Our priorities are all about their satisfaction, trust and loyalty. The user experience team is responsible for building solutions that drive the customer experience and, ultimately, enhance our bottom line as an organization. This team plays an integral, high visibility role in working across the company’s Marketing, Digital, and IT organizations. As a Lead UI/UX Designer, you will be deeply immersed in our customer journeys, dedicated to creating their elegant, frictionless experience as they interact with our platforms. Successful candidates will thrive in an agile environment, embrace DevOps culture and practices, and help mentor other team members as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • The primary mission for this role will be optimize the shopping experience with a customer first mindset.  Ensuring cohesive progress forward across multiple platforms while leading the UX design team on multiple projects. Contribute, add value and lead to your
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, development and marketing brand teams in order to keep a cohesive user experience across initiatives while making informed design choices as we strive to deliver for our customers.  
  • Be able to bring stake holder concepts and initiatives to fully-realized user experiences and workflows based on best practices, methodologies and tools – this will allow your design and development teammates to be in a position to succeed.
  • Understand and be a student of recent trends in ecommerce experiences and user flow. This will be an ongoing learning process where you are the advocate to our team.
  • Help to make the team better through coaching, mentoring and sharing your knowledge. Be an advocate of the peer review process, and help your team to grow.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to define new workflows and user journeys from concepts, while bringing a new perspective to existing interfaces.
  • Extreme attention to visual details and be able to keep a holistic view of our user experience across the enterprise.
  • Demonstrated understanding of user-centered design principles and ability to articulate ideas while presenting your work.
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to absorb AAP's market space, Omni-channel business dynamics and most of all, our customers.
  • Ability to find a balance between established brand guidelines and futuristic ideas when approaching UX design problems.
  • An existing portfolio that demonstrates a history of creating great user experiences along with team leadership.
  • Passion for collaborating with other designers, engineers, marketers, project managers, executives and other stakeholders.
  • Experience documenting interaction details and visual design specifications.
  • Fluency with rapid prototyping and wire-framing tools (Adobe Illustrator, Sketch, Figma, etc.)
  • Self-motivated to remain on the learning curve and continually improve skills and abilities.
  • Experienced and capable in an Agile environment.
  • Able to manage tight timelines with targets that sometimes evolve to meet business needs.
  • Demonstrated communications skills: written, verbal and visual. The ability to convey and ex-change ideas with others is a key attribute.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence and Atlassian tools in general. Version control: GitHub, BitBucket, Stash, etc. will be a plus.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in visual design, web design, and/or equivalent experience.
  • 5-8 years of demonstrated overall user experience development (some of which may be in software dev and/or visual design).
  • 1-3 years of team leadership and management.
