The Position

The  Advertising and Brand Manager will lead the development of campaigns,  and/or media plans based on thoughtful analysis of internal and external data to align with business priorities. This person will work across various sub-functions of the Marketing organization and external agency partners to build and execute programs in line with the overarching Brand strategy. The  Advertising and Brand Manager will partner to measure and report out program results. Successful experiences working with multiple, matrixed internal partners in a fast-paced setting are critical to success. Successful candidates have demonstrated project management skills and convey an aptitude for staying calm and effective while handling multiple demands and prioritizing responsibilities for excellent execution.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning and Leadership
    • Serve as liaison between merchandising, product marketing, visual branding, creative, digital, public relations, media agencies and other internal team members
    • Develop customer-targeted media strategy, planning, and implementation to drive brand awareness, consideration, and omnichannel traffic
    • Lead business and customer analysis to focus on brand marketing campaigns by collaborating with team members to write briefs, consolidate key messaging and develop cadence of media tactics
    • Lead Brand initiatives in a variety of corporate project(s) that require Marketing leadership, customer analysis, and multiple team members
    • Actively research and evangelize emerging marketing, brand and media trends to educate the team and incorporate learnings in the plan
    • Communicate initiatives and campaigns to team members, the field and other partners to continue to grow Advance Auto Parts brands
    • Ensure AAP’s core brand values are followed throughout the organization
  • Execution and Project Management
    • Develop national campaign creative executions
    • Ensure execution and delivery of all tactical advertising campaigns and media plans considering key stakeholders business objectives, timing constraints and other factors
    • Lead development of campaigns by partnering with our in-house Creative and/or our external agency that drives brand awareness, affinity and traffic to stores/website to ensure delivery of outstanding creative units
  • Analysis and Marketing Research
    • Analyze media plan effectiveness, leveraging our analytics and business partners to ensure high ROI on all marketing activities
    • Define testing plans to learn and define our optimal media mix model
    • Collaborate with Customer Research/Analytics and Data Science to measure effectiveness and adjust plans based on quantitative learnings
    • Define testing plans to learn and define the future of our model
  • Budget Management
    • Manage Digital/traditional media budgets, including media creative production by   – tracking, reporting, analyzing to ensure alignment with Finance and budget is optimized by periods, quarters and annual bases

  • Customer-centric – has a rock-solid customer-focused marketing background. Understands the need to know the customer well and define targeted plans that will engage and prove effective marketing campaigns
  • Marketing Expertise – from target definition to customer understanding to media planning and digital content development. This person has had extensive experience in the post-digital world. Traditional media and creative development, a plus
  • Business Acumen – ability to analyze, understand and interpret data, effectively incorporate learnings to define a vision and plan
  • Builder – experience working in large organizations, but also has passion for building new capabilities and process in an organization. Patience plus motivation plus overcoming-obstacles mentality
  • Team player – while this person is bold in setting goals and making things happen, s/he motivates her team members, enrolls the right people, and recognizes a job well done


  • Bachelor’s degree; MBA or MS Marketing/Digital Marketing preferred
  • 8+ years working on or leading a Brand Marketing team, including responsibility for media and/or  advertising campaigns
  • Big brand experience
