The Assistant Category Manager, eCommerce Merchandising is responsible for managing a variety of merchandising tactics related to the improvement of the shopping experience on the Advance Auto Parts website. They are focused on building a world-class shopping experience on our homepage and other high-traffic sections of the site. He or she will be a key player in driving process improvements for the site and establishing merchandising best practices, using testing and analytics to make data-driven decisions. They will build an unparalleled shopping experience in collaboration with team leaders across the company. The Assistant Category Manager will advocate for the needs of our customers and serve as the go-to person for insight on merchandising performance. He or she is responsible for defining and executing a 'best in class' experience for customers within each of the diverse product offerings and helps to ensure that the merchandising data, site features, and overall customer experience is the best that it can be.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

On-Site Merchandising Management (55%)

  • Partner across Category Management, Product Management, Merchandising Operations, Brand, and Marketing to drive collaborative projects to completion and ensure cohesive customer experience across all touch points.

  • Regularly review recommendation module analytics/results to identify wins and losses of strategies or product placements. Take learnings from these results to implement strategies for improving results and driving revenue per transaction.

  • Collaborate with Category Managers, Product Marketing and IT to identify new product & category attributes required for driving increased implementation, strategies and recommendations.  

  • Influence decisions on merchandising, copy, and headlines on the web properties.

  • Perform daily maintenance and merchandising updates on site.

     

    QA (25%)

  • Perform ongoing quality assurance reviews of all web properties to proactively identify any functional or UI related defects.

  • Act as the point person for inquiries and reports of landing page, listing page, detail page and/or shopping experience defects, determine the nature of the defect and work with the appropriate parties to resolve.

  • Contribute to the process of opening IT tickets for shopping experience related defects and enhancements, prioritization of open tickets and scheduling of fixes with IT support. Must be able to report on the status of all open tickets to various internal teams and upper management.

     

    Ad-Hoc Support (20%)

  • Conduct competitive review as needed to determine industry standards and best-in-class approaches to specific programs, merchandising features and functionality.

  • Pull on-site search metrics, support e-Commerce catalog initiatives and provide industry best practices to supporting merchandising teams.

  • Perform analysis, utilizing web analytics tools, to determine the outcome of changes made to the site and report on those findings to various internal teams and upper management.

     

Career Requirements

  • Must have an extremely strong work ethic, be results-driven and highly motivated
  • Senior presence, able to clearly and consistently work side-by-side across functions and departments and synthesize multiple points of view into a coherent action plan
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Experience with web analytics tools such as IBM Digital Analytics (Coremetrics), Adobe Analytics (Omniture) or Google Analytics
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms preferred

EDUCATION

  • BS/BA with strong work experience of 3-5 years in the merchandising area
