SUMMARY

The Assistant Category Manager will be responsible for all aspects within their assigned business planning groups.  These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, sales dollars, gross margin dollars, gross margin rate, inventory dollars, inventory turn and marketing.  The role’s primary focus is to gain market share by developing and executing strategic programs for our stores and customers.  Also, a key responsibility, is managing and coordinating the Brake Team marketing budget. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

50%      Ability to develop basic assortment plans tied to line reviews and category management processes.  Full understanding and working knowledge of product development process.

15%      Understanding of Advertising and promotional process, competitive environment

15%      Training

10%      Exposure to financial planning and forecasting; open to buy experience.

10%      Knowledge of negotiation fundamentals

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Undergraduate degree in Business

1-3 years minimum buyer experience/assisting buyers/category managers; or experience in a support role to the merchandising team.
