Job Description

Implement the tactical aspects of mutually agreed upon strategies for each category directly responsible for, which provide the best value for our customers through a combination of quality, ease of application, packaging and availability.  Accomplishments are measured in accordance with the corporately established guidelines of sales, margins, inventory levels, order fill, budgeting, communications, planning and execution, NPD Market Share and Gross Margin Return on Investment. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

45%        Utilize a category management approach to develop effective assortments that will maximize sales growth and GMROI performance.

20%        Implement best in class assortment programs.  Analyze Sales and Category Trends. Work cross functionally with the business teams on the financial planning and forecasting of the category.  Monitor supplier performance and take corrective action with a high sense of urgency.  Drive inventory turns through effective vendor negotiations for callbacks and product life cycle management.

10%        Maintain SKU set up and hierarchy management. Timely analysis and completion of work in support of assigned company initiatives.  Coordinate with Communications Team and Product Marketing Team any major and/or strategic shift in current strategy, product offering, and/or pricing.

10%        Collaborate with Pricing Team and Vendors to ensure Advance Auto Parts has competitive retail and commercial pricing in the market area.  This includes the full utilization of our multi-price zone program within the margin goals of the company.

5%          Use customer insights and market data to identify market trends and maximize market share.  Negotiate best overall value for customer by securing appropriate vendor funding to keep programs competitive and profitable.

5%          Negotiate and monitor co-op advertising programs, which support the corporate advertising strategy.  Constantly monitor purchasing patterns to ensure zero write-offs at year-end.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Category Management, Vendor Relations, Negotiations, Financial Literacy/Pricing
