SUMMARY

The Manager, Credit is accountable for the credit granting process, including the consistent application of the Advance Auto Parts Corporate Credit Policy.  This position is responsible for managing the evaluation of creditworthiness of potential customers, creating credit scoring models, approving and rejecting loans, negotiating payment terms and tracking changes in credit risk of current customers.  The Manager, Credit will monitor the full account portfolio with the goal of optimizing the mix of company sales and bad debt losses. This position drives continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility and maintains Advance Auto Parts’ vision, mission and culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage a team responsible for reviewing customer credit applications, risks and history, including reviewing credit reports, financial statements and other credit-related information for purposes of establishing credit worthiness and credit line limits up to established approval limits per credit policies and seek approval for amounts over approved limits
  • Manage relations with credit reporting agencies
  • Predict risks by creating credit scoring models
  • Maintain the corporate credit policy and recommend changes in the credit policy to senior management
  • Measurement and analysis of department performances and credit administration
  • Define credit review documentation and record retention for audit purposes
  • Monitor credit granting and update processes
  • Develop management reporting
  • Prepare special credit reports (collect, analyze, summarize account history and trend information)
  • Complete credit underwriting analyses, evaluate existing customers and make credit line increase decisions per credit policies and seek approval for amounts over approved limits
  • Communicate and establish relationships with Field Operations and Commercial Sales Teams related to credit
  • Develop proactive credit tools to drive sales towards low risk customers
  • Conduct regular reviews of existing customer account credit limits

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
  • 5+ years’ experience within financial services and/or commercial credit with supervisory experience required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and various business software systems as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial statements and conduct credit investigations
  • Prior experience with UCC filings and personal guarantees
  • Understanding of credit reporting agencies
  • Strong decision-making skills attention to detail and action results oriented
  • Ability to lead, train and develop credit analysts
  • Proven track record building customer relationships driving growth
  • Demonstrated success improving customer and employee satisfaction
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functionally to institutionalize process and improve performance
  • General understanding of business law, economics, and bankruptcy
  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has supervisory responsibility for a team of up to 7 credit analysts
