Summary:  The Import/Export Compliance Analyst will support and maintain the company policies and procedures as outline by the Customs Compliance Program to include; working with 3rd party Customs Brokers; supporting company shipping and receiving locations on import/export documentation; supporting CBP-ACE, CBP-CTPAT, NAFTA, and other government agencies; processing non-compliance shippers; tracking/tracing Ocean containers; supporting the Customs Compliance Manager as needed. This position will administer the logistics and movement of Direct Import goods through the International & Domestic supply chain.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to all aspects of Global Logistics and Trade Compliance covered by Customs & Border Protection and Other Regulated Agencies rules/regulations and other jurisdictions.

  • Plan, prepare and process export and import activities.

  • Conduct day-to-day trade activities to ensure international shipments are in compliance including: shipping documentation, export license determination, classification, valuation and Incoterms.

  • Interface with Internal customers; Merchandising, Inventory, and Global Sourcing to understand technical characteristics and how that impacts export classifications and US and local governments.

  • Engage with internal teams to understand changing product lines and business models and develops corresponding processes to ensure compliance with applicable export requirements

  • Establish and maintain a working relationship with all intra company departments and facilities to fully understand the business, technical aspects of the product, research, materials, applications and other business resources.

  • Provide guidance to employees concerning the requirements and obligations of cross-border movement of goods.

  • Support the product classification process to ensure HTS/ECCN assignment and communication of this information to appropriate business personnel

  • Work with both internal and external partners to measure and define trade compliance process and drive improvements.

  • Provide transportation/Logistics support for Dray, Deconsolidation, and container deliveries to distribution centers

  • Work with external partners and overseas contract manufacturers to provide advice and guidance on day-to-day import and export transactions.

  • Participate in a variety of projects supporting the broader Logistics/Trade Compliance team’s goals and objectives.

  • Assist in internal export compliance audits, risk assessments, and process improvement plans.

  • Identify Cost Optimization opportunities with controllable costs, and process improvements

  • Assist Canadian Customs Broker with documents to support the Canada Made Easy freight consolidation program.  Maintain copies of Canadian Vendor Agreements

  • Audit and report Non-Compliant vendors to SCR Group

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of company Ethics, Integrity and Social Responsibility policies.

  • Strong experience in Global Freight Forwarding, international logistics and Customhouse Broker operations.

  • Strong organizational, team and communication skills to work independently and take initiative to address issues.

  • Strong knowledge on customs regimes such as harmonized tariff schedules, customs valuations, controlled products, country of origin rules, free trade programs, and other import rules.

  • Ability to manage several projects of varying complexity simultaneously and effectively.

  • Knowledge and Understanding of transportation contracts and frame agreements.

  • Familiar with global country security initiatives and qualified service provider’s requirements. 

  • Continued familiarization, training and research in all foreign countries Customs import and export Regulatory Compliance requirements.

  • Ability to direct, analyze, support, execute and implement all U.S. import CBP Regulatory Compliance operations and Export Regulatory compliance under Export Administration and other applicable government agencies.

  • Ability to support team initiatives and as required travel, lead, train, and provide direction at global company offices.

  • Three (3) years minimum experience in International Trade Compliance and/or job duties which include responsibility to meet CBP Import/Export regulatory compliance.

  • Strong PC skills: MS Office, SharePoint, etc.

  • Up to 10% travel may be required.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • 5+ Years Import/Export Customs and/or International/Domestic Logistics experience
