Our customers are can-do people who like to build, just like us.  Our priorities are all about their satisfaction, trust and loyalty.  The Digital development team is responsible for building solutions that drive the customer experience and, ultimately, enhance our bottom line as an organization.  This team plays an integral, high-visibility role in working across the company’s Marketing, Digital, and IT organizations.

As a Development Manager, you will be a key owner/stakeholder of our Web platforms.  Note that this is not a lead developer role in which you’ll be writing code.  Your solid engineering background will ensure that they are in good hands with you as a leader. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Handle day-to-day operational responsibilities in development and specific digital products.
  • Be well-versed and comfortable in the AWS environment.  Know the tools, stay up-to-date. 
  • Be a great partner to your teammates in Product Management, Engineering, Data Science, and other stakeholder groups.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging trends, strategies, best practices, tools and other developments in the Web tech space.
  • Be in the vanguard of a true Agile culture here at AAP.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive hands-on engineering background, preferable across a variety of disciplines.
  • Lead-level AWS skills, backed by the underlying knowledge of systems, networks and coding standards.
  • Experience in e-commerce retail at the enterprise level.  Additional experience in the entrepreneurial/startup space is desired.
  • Strong understanding of modern the web development toolset: frameworks, full-stack Javascript, CSS transpilers.
  • Vendor management, buy-vs-build strategies, costing, budgets.
  • Version control.
  • Cloud DevOps and CI/CD.
  • The data-driven enterprise: analytics, A/B testing; the path from disparate inputs to actionable outcomes.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • BA or BS degree, or equivalent experience.

    7+ years in the web technology space.

  • 3+ years’ experience managing growth teams of 2+ team-members.
