As a Senior Manager, Data Science at Advance Auto Parts, you will have an opportunity to disrupt a $150B auto parts industry to bring better and faster solutions to customers. You will be part of creating an elite data science function helping the company live its mission of “Advancing a World in Motion”. The role is part of a merit-based organization with a culture of professional development and emphasis on the latest tools, platforms and technologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Work with the latest open source tools, libraries, platforms and languages to explore billions of customer records and external data sources for relationships and actionable insights, while leading a team of data scientists focused on driving value in the marketing space 
  • Serve as the main data science contact to Advance Auto’s Marketing department, with respect to statistical input into marketing test design, measurement, modeling, and interpretation of outputs across diverse channels such as Web/eCommerce, SEM, Email, and Loyalty/CRM
  • Work with Marketing partners to design market-, store-, and customer- level tests accurately measuring the incremental impact of marketing initiatives and offering actionable recommendations to the business
  • Use advanced statistical techniques to address Advance Marketing’s needs, including survival analysis, uplift modeling, customer lifetime value modeling, and customer segmentation
  • Create compelling presentations on the output of the above work to Marketing team members and C-level executives (including CEO)
  • Scope and recommend opportunities to use the above methodologies to drive value across the department, and partner with marketers to execute on the results of the analysis
  • Prioritize and execute ad-hoc analytics requests as necessary


  • 7-10 years of experience in the Data Science or Statistics fields, preferably in Digital Marketing and/or as part of a retail environment
  • Mastery of R, Scala, Python or other Data Science programming language a must. Experience with using data from marketing analytic tools such as Adobe (Omniture), Google Analytics, and Core Metrics a bonus.
  • Proven ability to remain current, continually researching and evaluating emerging technologies as well as scientific publications on state-of-the-art algorithms and techniques
  • Experience developing analysts and data scientists


  • MS or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, or another quantitative field preferred
