SUMMARY

The Lead Payroll Processing Specialist monitors the payroll process by performing the following duties personally, or through delegation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for the Workday payroll process which includes loading and validating integrations, time tacking, reviewing and resolving payroll error messages, and running processes, such as pay calculations and check print.
  • Ensure that daily and weekly deadlines are met and monitor the results.  Maintain a weekly checklist to ensure that all steps are completed.   Proactively inform manager of discrepancies and detailers.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of payroll systems and their functionality, and act as the primary backup for all table maintenance, upgrades and enhancements of current payroll systems.
  • Research and resolve questions relevant to payroll processing issues.
  • Support the HR Store Support Center Team Members with expertise-advice on matters pertaining to payroll.
  • Document and update current procedures to ensure efficiency and accuracy while complying with company, state and governmental guidelines.
  • Validate direct deposit transmission/integrations to the bank after all payrolls are completed.
  • Participate in HRSC and Payroll staff meetings to communicate items of importance to the payroll process.
  • Coordinate and advise on training topics and sessions to develop the payroll team.
  • Develop audit procedures to ensure accuracy of payroll.
  • Prepare special reports as needed for internal and external auditors, and business owners.
  • Promote teamwork and leadership.
  • Provides back up to the Payroll Supervisor.

  • International payroll experience preferred.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel experience required.
  • Team leadership skills.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree; and

4-5 years payroll administration experience for a large company (50,000+ Team Members) using Workday; or

Equivalent combination of education and experience.
