The Senior Indirect Procurement Manager, reporting to the Director, Procurement, is responsible for leading a transformational change of Indirect Procurement to a commercial expert and a trusted business partner.

The Senior Procurement Manager will be a subject matter expert (SME) in a variety of Corporate Services spend categories. You will be responsible for developing and executing complex procurement strategies to provide business-building innovation, supplier quality solutions, comprehensive cost baselines, risk identification, with an extreme focus and attention to collaboration and building strong partnerships with key stakeholders and, most importantly, delivering total cost savings through commercial and technical project management and effective supplier relationship management. 

Key focus areas include creation of strategic sourcing plans, building stakeholder relationships, establishing comprehensive total cost baselines and category supply & demand drivers while working in concert with the business to understand business needs, market insights/shifts, risks and opportunities and to deliver against the established goals. You will drive an overall differentiating value to Advance Auto Parts.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Establishes and executes global category strategies to include risk identification and mitigation.
  • Participates in the financial planning and forecasting process as well as provides relevant global market information and dynamics to internal stakeholders.
  • Analyzes data or insights to determine industry and market trends, devises long-term development strategies for improved category performance.
  • Links the sourcing and procurement processes to improvement opportunities in planning, customer voice and the ability to address supplier constraints and opportunities.
  • Leading RFPs and Supplier Negotiations.
  • Utilizes advanced analytical skills and business intelligence to drive sourcing process end-to-end from selection through performance management to stay ahead of any sourcing issues
  • Ensuring business continuity, governance and management for all types of supplier risk (including financial, performance related, financial, and corporate compliance risks).
  • Provide innovation and oversight to ensure business value (e.g., cost, quality, availability, technology/innovation and sustainability) and open communication around key stakeholder requirements for all indirect goods and services. Lead continuous supplier value improvement efforts internally and externally. Delivers annual reductions in total cost of ownership.
  • Drives step-change improvements to deliver leading edge performance while delivering cost reduction and differentiated value brought to the Integrated Supply Chain.
  • Proven ability to effectively collaborate and partner with key stakeholders to build lasting relationships centered on continuous improvement, quality and trust.
  • Effectively work to grow and development supplier relationships through comprehensive supplier relationship management strategies that lead to year-over-year total cost improvement and the ability to monetize the full supplier life cycle.

Required Skills 

  • Demonstrated experience with make vs. buy decision-making, developing baseline models, and other analytics to aid in decision making and strategy creation.
  • Experience working within supply chain functions with proven leadership capability.
  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise technology applications that enable sourcing and procurement execution and reporting.
  • Strong business acumen with strong internal and external negotiating skills.
  • Must be able to critically review and negotiate contracts and possess a solid understanding of standard contract boilerplates; 
  • Able to critically evaluate supplier financial health and capabilities.
  • solid sense of urgency with ability work long hours.


  • Bachelors degree preferably in Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance or related Business discipline
  • CPM Certification preferred but not required

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of Indirect procurement/sourcing experience and a minimum of 1 year Marketing and Sales category procurement experience.  
  • Experience in Marketing operations, Brand Management, Agency Management, Professional Services, HR, IT, R&D Indirect Goods & Services desirable
  • Experience leading and supporting categories within Marketing & Sales Procurement  and experience leading  and supporting other Indirect areas such as IT, HR, Professional Services, Legal, and R&D Indirect.
  • Deep experience with sourcing processes and tools
  • Experience drafting and managing the RFP process
  • Strong stakeholder and influencing skills
  • Experience produce high quality analytics and performing complex spend analyses
