Our customers are can-do people who like to build, just like us.  Our priorities are all about their satisfaction, trust and loyalty.  The Digital development team is responsible for building solutions that drive the customer experience and, ultimately, enhance our bottom line as an organization.  This team plays an integral, high-visibility role in working across the company’s Marketing, Digital, and IT organizations. 

As a Product Owner, you will be deeply immersed in our customer journeys, dedicated to creating their elegant, frictionless experience as they interact with our platforms.  And your great ideas will matter here.  Successful candidates will have a user’s-first viewpoint, thrive in an agile environment, embrace DevOps culture and practices, and help mentor other team members as needed. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

The primary mission for this role will be to know our customers.  Know, and care about, their likes and dislikes, what will improve their experiences, earn and sustain their loyalty, and do everything possible to delight them.

  • Define product vision, roadmap and growth opportunities, provide direction to the Agile team, create user stories, set priorities and manage the product backlog.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and timing requirements, as well as intercept and redirect incoming interference from other teams while addressing valid concerns. 

  • Assess value, develop cases, and prioritize stories, epics and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy.

  • Research and analyze the market, competitors and the digital + technology landscape to identify opportunities and threats and create recommendations that are actionable and are aligned with our customer and business needs.

  • Be a clear, consistent source of trustworthy information; facilitate discussion, transparency, good decision-making and conflict resolution.

  • Work hard to build trust within the team; guide on self-organization, foster a fear-free environment where problems will surface easy and early. 
  • Work closely with scrum masters to ensure that daily, weekly and monthly agile rituals take place, with efficiency and discipline, as well as play an active role in mitigating impediments.
  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience. 
  • Experience in the Product Owner role for at least two years in a tech shop environment. 
  • At least 2 years’ experience in and around web tech. 
  • First or second level Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO®) certification.
  • A solid understanding of product management principles, approaches and theories, such as Lean Startup, product market fit, user testing and research, roadmap planning, etc.
  • A solid baseline of tech literacy is expected; hands-on experience at coding/software development will be preferred. 
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of Scrum terminology: servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, increased transparency, etc.  
  • Some understanding of DevOps  and cloud concepts including CI/CD, auto-scaling, automated and manual testing methodologies, pairing, etc. 
  • Working knowledge of non-Scrum Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc. 
  • Some experience as a team lead will be preferred.
