SUMMARY

The Senior Payments Data Analyst reports to the Manager, Treasury and is responsible for implementing, managing, and improving department analytics, payment processes and store cash delivery channels for Treasury within the retail industry. This position executes continuous improvement projects and maintains Advance Auto Parts’ vision, mission and culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Enhance Advance Auto’s Financial Transaction Ecosystem
    • Analyze large sets of customer transaction data to identify trends in payments, refunds and chargebacks and make payment infrastructure and technology recommendations
    • Work cross functionally with third party providers and internal business teams to identify financial transaction automation opportunities, system improvements and resolve payment related issues
    • Obtain visibility and report daily credit card clearing, store cash and store change balances
    • Key contributor in the request for proposal process to source a new merchant payment processor; assist in implementing chosen solution
    • Develop cost reduction and working capital improvement models to support supply chain financing consolidation project
    • Propose and champion new payment systems and measure business impact
    • Support internal fraud monitoring and third-party vendors to control exposures and minimize fraudulent activity as well as manage the chargeback process
  • Develop Store Cash Delivery Channels
    • Assist in store cash delivery system request for proposal, creating store specific cost/benefit analysis and other project management tasks
    • Develop and write policies and procedures for implemented store cash delivery systems 
    • Create analytics measuring store cash delivery system effectiveness and financial impact   
    • Collaborate with new store opening teams to select appropriate cash delivery systems
    • Assist with closing and consolidating store bank accounts/partnerships, updating signers on accounts and general store bank account and online portal maintenance
  • Assist with implementation of treasury systems and processes
  • Provide backup for daily cash concentration and other recurring tasks as needed

Career Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Accounting, Finance or related business field
  • Minimum 5 years related Business Operations, Finance, or Accounting experience and/or training with at least 2 years in Business Operations role
  • Knowledge of the principles of payment transaction systems in a corporate environment including banking and merchant processing systems
  • Achieves high level, sustainable performance and results; uses logic and insight to solve difficult problems and create effective solutions
  • Effectively responds to change and is comfortable with ambiguity; manages conflicting priorities
  • Must be able to travel 10 - 20% of the time for conferences, professional development, and meetings with internal customers and vendors
  • Required skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skillset; understanding of financial modeling and data mining
  • Proficient in documentation writing and process flowchart creation
