Social Media Intern

Position Overview:

We are a fortune 500 company with a deep understanding of the importance of providing a best in class internship program.  Advance Auto Parts offers a 10-week paid internship that provides hands on experience in social media development, client support and provides experiences in the overall retail leadership environment.  Another component of the internship is being paired with an experienced mentor who will help guide your experience.  This isn’t a job shadow opportunity, this internship is the chance to get involved, contribute and truly experience being part of a great team. You’ll also have the opportunity to:

  • Immerse yourself in the organization through hands-on work experience with a focus on leadership
  • Gain understanding of dynamics of the retail sector
  • Provide best in class customer service to commercial customers
  • Develop leadership and influencing skills
  • Partner with a seasoned Mentor during the program and beyond

The ideal candidate has both a creative and analytical side. You’re a master wordsmith and are comfortable taking photos and videos, just as much as you are reviewing data and understanding content performance. We’re looking for an individual that has a love for social media!

Your duties:

  • Support a key Commercial Account at Advance Auto through various social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube
  • Assist with content capture, creation and development
  • Draft social media copy
  • Assist with content scheduling
  • Generate social media content ideas
  • Assist in development and execution of social media campaigns
  • Assist with social media monitoring
  • Enhance AAP’s relationship with one or more Commercial accounts

Skills:

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and best practices– Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment
  • You must have a desire for continuous improvement and take initiative in your personal development and job responsibilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Proactive and team player
  • Experience with photography, videography or design
  • Experience with common mobile apps for photo and video capture and editing a plus
  • Experience with social media management a plus

Position Requirements:

  • Undergraduate student in an accredited college/university, rising Junior or Senior at the time of internship
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing as well as access to a vehicle
  • Ability to work Part-time, 15-20 hours per week
