The Senior Asset Protection Analyst will support a diverse team of Asset Protection and Retail professionals that are charged with achieving best in class Sales, Gross Margin and Operating Income results.  This position is responsible for establishing and sustaining a comprehensive approach to Shrink, Returns & Defective reduction through analytics. The Senior AP Analyst is accountable for identifying opportunities to reduce shrink in all aspects, whether they be systemic, training, or operational deficiencies. In addition to analytics, this position will support and provide guidance to other initiatives of the department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ownership of all Initiative measurements, production of measurements into a meaningful tool to be utilized by Field teams. Includes identifying appropriate communication channels and ensuring the actionable data is easily accessible for end user
  • Responsible for maintaining a healthy relationship with external partners, assessing performance and ultimately determining effectiveness of vendors
  • Perform analytics to provide guidance around appropriate store targets for Shrink Returns and Defectives throughout the year
  • Guide merchandise protection strategy through analytics, evaluating both product and geographic risk.
  • Lead cross functional teams to identify statistical analysis needs, the appropriate end users, and the means of delivery to drive outcomes
  • Through a regular cadence, communicate to senior leadership Shrink/Returns & Defective results in relation to annual targets, with predictive analytics to understand trend and run rates
  • Perform ongoing analysis in an effort to identify patterns and trends from product level to operational area. Collect these findings and present to functional leaders of the organization to drive appropriate action where necessary
  • Maintain strong partnership with Inventory Accounting, Internal Audit, Store Systems, and Operations to evaluate store and logistics processes to understand potential areas of opportunity
  • Participate in Regional, District and Store Level training and awareness programs including assessments, presentations and other meetings that build superior experiences with our internal and external customers.

  • Strong analytic, strategic & tactical abilities
  • Capacity to identify and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis inclusive of statistical significance, regression, standard deviation, binning, etc.
  • Aptitude to identify appropriate metrics for evaluation in a given scenario, and communicate the findings effectively
  • Expertise with MS Excel, Access and AS400
  • Confidence to speak effectively before groups of Team Members at all levels within the organization
  • Familiarity with web based reporting and publication methods
  • Ensure the highest level of data integrity/accuracy when publishing department reports as well as findings from performed analysis
  • Knowledge of Point of Sale and other store and inventory systems, with ability to identify a process’s origin and map back the appropriate data record.
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills and the ability to build close working relationships
  • Willingness to travel occasionally with Field AP Managers/Directors to understand the needs of the team


Undergraduate degree or five years related work.






This job requires sitting at a computer terminal for several hours a day. There may be minimal lifting required on occasion though this is not a requirement of employment.


Work will be completed within a cubicle and will require being seated at a computer terminal for several hours of the day. There are no specific hazards inherent in the workplace.  There will also be up to 30% overnight travel for this position
