Introduction

Advance Auto Parts’ engineering role is to balance engineering concerns of all projects with the concerns of the enterprise. The Opportunity

The Sr. Enterprise End-Point Engineer shall act as the liaison between 2nd level Support, architecture, and the business. In this role, the engineer will help translate requirements created by functional analysts into the engineering for that solution and describing it through engineering and design artifacts. You will work in partnership with the business, advising them how to use information technology in order to meet their business requirements and/or needs. All aspects of a technology will be reviewed by the engineer, including pricing and technology portfolio matching.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance to the business on general technology and IT infrastructures.
  • Provide expert technical assistance to IT.
  • Communicate with staff at all levels of the organizations.
  • Conduct research as needed to gain a thorough understanding of a products system specifications.
  • Analyzing IT requirements within AAP and give independent and objective advice on the use of IT.
  • Analyze customers’ IT needs; provide independent and objective advice for improvement.
  • Develop solutions and present proposals to IT/business orally and in writing.
  • Implement agreed-upon solutions for new and improved IT systems.
  • Assist projects through the change-management process.
  • Design, test, install and monitor IT systems.
  • Prepare documentation and progress reports for IT/business.
  • Create training materials for other engineers and/or support.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and/or experience.
  • 5+ years in Infrastructure Engineering.
  • Profound communication skills with in-depth understanding of the technologies they are dealing with on a day-to-day basis.
  • Strong operating systems background (e.g., Microsoft, Linux, etc.) is required.
  • Some scripting background (e.g., PowerShell, Shell, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, and/or Python).
  • Some understanding of Networking concepts (e.g., NAT, DNS, and routing), with practical hands-on and administrative experience with network appliances a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills is a must.
  • Be able to work with teams with varying levels of technical backgrounds and experiences.
  • Be able to mix tactical thinking and strategical and making sure they are aligned with the overall direction of the business.
  • Experience in supporting product/agile development teams.
  • Background in Retail is a plus.
  • Experience with database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MSSQL, MySQL, etc. is a plus.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as SCCM, KACE, BigFix, SOTI, Intune, Group Policy, etc.
  • Experience designing, building, implementing and supporting solutions on a large-scale distributed environment.
  • Experience building, updating or maintaining Windows imaging solutions (Win7, Win10, and Server2012r2+ preferred).
  • Experience supporting patching on a large scale.
