Internship Overview:

Advance Auto Parts isn’t just your local auto parts store. We are the leading retail competitor in the auto parts industry. We are always looking for ways to better our strategies and broaden our horizons; which is why we are excited to build a diverse team of interns. This 10 week paid internship will provide hands on experience in retail, inventory management, and leadership.  Another component of the internship is being paired with an experienced mentor who will help guide your experience as you move through a series of rotations focused on learning different aspects of Advanced Auto Parts business.

Summary 

This position is responsible for providing complex analysis of information, problems and/or data of moderate scope, where analyses are multivariable.  Assist in driving change by analyzing large data sets and creating reports that support day to day business operations as well as informing current or proposed business solutions.  Provide decision support and counsel by collecting, analyzing data, interpreting data, and forecasting business trends to support the overall strategic and operating plans of Advance Auto Parts.

General Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs moderately complex analysis of information, problems, and/or data under general supervision
  • Tracks, monitors, and measures benefits of implemented solutions for complex multivariable issues
  • Develops, analyzes and disseminates weekly, periodic, and quarterly reports
  • Perform return on investment (ROI) analysis to determine viability and priority of pending supply chain projects.
  • Provide root/cause analysis to support decision-making by effectively communicating and translating the results into business insights and actions.
  • Provide direction for project personnel to ensure the project progresses on schedule and within the prescribed budget
  • Confer and cooperate with all levels of operating management in formulating and developing detailed analytical analyses to support projects, day to day operations, and trends 

Qualifications:

  • Rising Junior or Senior at the time of internship
  • Knowledge of distribution and transportation processes
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, AS/400 and PeopleSoft skills
  • Experience with statistical tools a plus
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts to practical situations such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals or technical procedures
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
