Job Summary

Key responsibility for this role is to Identify & Drive standardization within Supply Chain to increase customer service level, team efficiency & cost reduction. This Position will Leverage best known methods throughout the end to end Supply Chain (SC) to enhance productivity, efficiency, and/or effectiveness through 5 key elements of operational excellence (People, Process, System, Performance and Accountability). Initially this position will standardize DC operation processes to achieve consistence, repeatable & predictable KPI outcome before expanding this methodology into rest of the segments of Supply Chain. The standardization Manager must be a strong leader with ability to lead change and work effectively with a large number of different internal leaders within Supply chain; as well as, team members at all levels of the organization, without direct authority. The standardization Manager must be detail oriented, able to coordinate multiple projects & meet deadlines. This role requires strong cross functional engagement to identify opportunities, analyze and solve organizational challenges, improve manufacturing systems, and identify waste reduction opportunities and any other relevant standardization improvement initiatives.The manager leads the design, evaluation, training, and revision of all work methods, workflow, productivity, job functions, physical layout and equipment.  This position is responsible for developing, analyzing, planning, and implementing supply chain solutions with the goal of improving efficiencies and reducing costs, while standardizing operations across multiple Warehouse Management platforms. The manager must be a strong leader who can identify and develop talent, have experience in supporting distribution facilities (including e-Commerce operation), manage a large SKU base, and have experience with state of the art sorting and handling equipment. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops, executes, and maintains standardization plan in conjunction with other members of the leadership team to drive training and activities in support of ongoing process improvements through cross-functional involvement Supply Chain wide.
  • Promotes standardization of operation systems and insures continuity of the operation practice across the organization.
  • Utilizes Lean, and continuous improvement (CI) methodologies to drive a culture of learning, a dedication to ongoing improvement, and a focus on sustainable results.
  • Identifies and works with team to execute projects in the Value Stream.
  • Develops, implements, and leads Supply Chain wide standardization team efforts in establishing and/or improving key performance indicators
  • Leads Kaizen Events, and trains and coaches the leadership team and cross functional lean coordinators network in the principles, methods, and applications of Lean techniques such that standardization is integrated into management systems.
  • Leads Standardization Team to help drive lean initiatives within the organization and recognizing and celebrating successes in the management of our Kaizen funnel process, 5S implementation, daily management process, recognition, training, best practice sharing, strategy deployment, and RCI assessment.
  • Identify best practices within the company, and outside of AAP, and serve as a conduit for best-practice sharing
  • Trains in Lean (tools, principles, activities, etc.), mentors, and develops team leaders whose primary responsibilities are problem solving and developing standardized work.
  • Personally develop training materials, conduct lean training, and kaizen events.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading a support team that have a combination of engineers and Operation SMEs

 Qualifications

  • 5+ years, hands-on track record of standardizing processes/systems across Supply Chain with knowledge of value-stream mapping, material flow, 5S, daily management, visual factory and lean.
  • 2+ years of Operational Leadership experience, Operations Manager or Value Stream Leader in a retail or e-Commerce industry.
  • Outstanding influence and persuasion capability. Ability to be a change agent by teaching and coaching others at all levels, without direct authority.
  • Broad knowledge of multi-functional, multi-DC, 300+ employee, distribution and transportation processes and financial business methods
  • Strong analytical skills utilized as an approach towards decision making.
  • Financial literacy sufficient to understand Financial Statements and Budgets
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher learning program required, with majors in engineering.
  • Travel 75% domestically

Non-Negotiable/Minimum Hiring Criteria

  • Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience as an IE/Distribution/ME, Lean Manager or Continuous improvement in high volume, high mix industries and 5+ years of experience in management.
  • Broad knowledge of multi-functional, multi-site, 300+ employee, distribution and transportation processes and financial business methods
  • Bachelor’s degree in in Engineering
  • Ability to travel 75%
  • Certified 6 Sigma Black Belt.
