Our priorities are all about their satisfaction, trust and loyalty. The Digital development team is responsible for building solutions that drive the customer experience and, ultimately, enhance our bottom line as an organization. This team plays an integral, high visibility role in working across the company’s Marketing, Digital, and IT organizations. As a UI/UX Designer, you will be deeply immersed in our customer journeys, dedicated to creating their elegant, frictionless experience as they interact with our platforms. Successful candidates will thrive in an agile environment, embrace DevOps culture and practices, and help mentor other team members as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • The primary mission for this role will be to know our customers.  Know, and care about, their likes and dislikes, what will improve their experiences, and earn and sustain their loyalty.
  • Add value to your team and collaborate on design solutions while building relationships with the organization.
  • Work closely both with business stakeholders and the development team, in order to make the best, most informed design choices as we strive to deliver for our customers.  
  • Be able to start with a conversation or concept and produce fully-realized user experiences and workflows based on best practices, methodologies and tools – so your design and development teammates will be in position to succeed.
  • Help to make the team better through peer review and knowledge sharing. Be an advocate of the peer review process, and help your teammates to grow.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrable ability to define new approaches to complex workflows and user journeys while bringing a new perspective to existing interfaces.
  • Attention to visual details not as a visual designer but strong instincts for look and feel will be an asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding of user-centered design principles and ability to articulate ideas while presenting your work.
  • Enthusiasm for and willingness to absorb AAP's market space, omni-channel business dynamics and, most of all, our customers.
  • Ability to find a balance between established brand guidelines and futuristic ideas when approaching UX design problems.
  • An existing portfolio that demonstrates a history of creating great user experiences.
  • Passion for collaborating with other designers, engineers, marketers, project managers, executives and other stakeholders.
  • Experience documenting interaction details, visual design specifications.
  • Fluency with rapid prototyping and wire-framing tools (Adobe CS, Sketch, Keynote, etc.)
  • Self-motivated to remain on the learning curve and continually improve.
  • Experienced and capable in an Agile environment.
  • Able to manage timelines that are sometimes short with targets that sometimes evolve to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communications skills: written, verbal and visual. The ability to convey and ex-change ideas with others is a key to success.
  • Version control: GitHub, BitBucket, Stash, etc. You should comfortable in Git driven version controlled DevOps environments. Experience with Jira, Confluence and Atlassian tools in general will be a plus.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience.
  •  3-7 years of overall experience (some of which may be in software dev and/or visual de-sign).
