SUMMARY
Interpret accounting standards and vendor contracts to ensure proper recording of Trade, Receivables and Deferred Revenue. Prepare and maintain complex calculations using many data inputs within Excel. Record and reconcile transactions for the Vendor Incentives Department and assist in the preparation of financial reports. Collaborate with other departments to streamline vendor incentive accounting processing while maintaining a focus on completeness and accuracy of data. Must have excellent analytical, critical thinking and demonstrated process improvement skills. Must be energetic, self-motivated and enjoy working in a fast paced, highly dynamic environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY SKILLS may include, but are not limited to the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Interpret accounting standards and vendor contracts to ensure proper recording of transactions.
  • Prepare and maintain complex calculations in Excel using many data inputs.
  • Prepare and submit claims to vendors. Communicate with vendors regarding incentive calculations and support.
  • Identify and implement changes to processes, calculations and journal entries to improve departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Perform analytical reviews and interpretation of financial data and provides understandable explanations to non-financial business partners.
  • Prepare journal entries and assigned account reconciliations on a period basis according to established schedule. Follow up with appropriate individuals for any needed corrections and prepares journal entries accordingly.
  • Prepare and maintain schedules and supporting documentation needed for management, internal and external reporting, internal and external auditors, and SOX requirements.
  • Assist in quarterly reviews/year-end audits with internal and external auditors.
  • Understand daily activities of the department and provide assistance when needed to ensure daily and period goals/deadlines are met.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office and other applicable accounting and financial software (experience with PeopleSoft or other ERP preferred).
  • Ability to think creatively and bring new ideas to improve and increase efficiencies and processes within the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work in conjunction with other departments, vendors and internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, handling complex projects and prioritizing and managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines and time constraints.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both an oral and written manner to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
  • Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to top management, external department heads, customers, clients and other employees. 

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    No direct supervisory responsibilities.
