Job Description

Summary:

The Distribution Center Asset Protection Specialist (DC - APS) reports directly to the Supply Chain Senior Asset Protection Manager. They are an integral member of the DC’s leadership team and are responsible for leading the efforts that ensure the safety and security of the DC workplace for Advance Auto Parts team members (TMs), temporary workers, visitors and vendors. The DC – APS is responsible for risk mitigation, planning and providing real-time support and communication should security breaches and/or critical events arise. They are accountable for controlling and managing their respective DC’s shrink, damages, fraud and abuse. This position requires the ability to influence, teach, coach and train others. In addition, the DC – APS is responsible for ensuring operational and procedural compliance, auditing, conducting investigations, managing and proposing solutions to mitigate losses as well as presenting findings. Core duties and responsibilities of the position are outlined below; however, duties may change at any time to support the needs of the business.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop partnerships with DC leadership, CSC and cross functional teams
  • Proficiency in DC’s WMS and understand all aspects of DC operations
  • Create & encourage a culture of “Speak Up” by encouraging TMs to report internal dishonesty via AAP Ethics Hotline
  • Prepare and present training courses to educate team on shrink, defectives and inventory control along with how to prepare and respond to critical incidents – Weather, Active Shooter, Civil Unrest, etc.…
  • Conduct operational audits to include; but not limited to, Inventory Accuracy, Reclamation, Rebox, Inbound/Outbound Shipments, Guards, CTPAT, Trailers, Lockers etc.…
  • Present to DC Leadership the outcomes of audits along with recommendations for improvement
  • Review and interpret Operational KPI's and provide guidance, support and solutions to all key partners
  • Primary contact for DC Defect Reduction Initiatives
  • Conduct Physical Security walks to ensure that DC security controls & procedures are being adhered to
  • Create and build relationships with Local Law Enforcement
  • Ownership of all internal investigations & interviews related to theft and/or fraud
  • Review and monitor CCTV and Access Control Systems
  • Primary contact for any issues and/or concerns with our contracted security guard service
  • Partnering with retail operations and understanding store operations is a key contributor to success

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A) from four-year college or university; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Wicklander-Zulawski certified (or obtain within 3 months of hire)
  • Bilingual Preferred (English/Spanish)
