Job Description

As our Director, Marketing Analytics at Advance Auto Parts, you will have an opportunity to disrupt a $100B auto parts industry to bring better and faster solutions to customers. You will be part of an elite analytical function helping the organization think ahead.  Think Advance. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

•         Create and execute business and analytics strategy across diverse channels such as Web/eCommerce, SEM, Email, and Loyalty/CRM to drive measurable benefit to the enterprise

•         Measure and optimize the effectiveness of marketing initiatives both in-store and online, deploying both established and groundbreaking techniques 

•         Partner with a diverse set of stakeholders both inside and outside the department to execute on cross-functional projects

•         Partner with the data science team to translate business needs into complex data science problems, including predictive modeling, segmentation, machine learning, and others; act as customer to the data science team for these solutions

•         Partner with data engineering teams to develop processes that enable the delivery of results in a timely, accurate and concise manner

•         Work cross-functionally, both internally and with analytic vendors, to design market-, store-, and/or customer- level tests to measure the incremental impact of marketing leading to rigorous, meaningful, and actionable insights.

•         Scope data-driven project opportunities to disrupt and change the way we work, creating massive business and customer value in the process

•         Work with the latest open source tools, libraries, platforms and languages to explore billions of customer records and external data sources for relationships and actionable insights

•         Work with our user experience and software development teams to design rich data visualizations and interactive solutions to communicate complex ideas to customers and company leaders

•         Build, lead and manage a matrix-organized team


•         7-10 years of experience in marketing analytics, preferably in Digital Marketing and/or as part of a retail environment with complex data relationships

•         Solid knowledge of SQL required. Knowledge of Python and/or R preferred. Experience with web analytic tools such as Adobe (Omniture), Google Analytics, and Core Metrics

•         Ability to remain current, continually researching and evaluating emerging technologies.  As well as staying current on published state of the are algorithms and models

•         Proven ability to challenge conventional thinking and traditional ways of operating and to work with stakeholders to identify and improve the status quo

•         Driven to analyze customer needs and impact business outcomes

•         Strong team management and communication skills


•         Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM major (Statistics, Economics, Science, Engineering or Math); Master’s Degree in STEM major preferred

•         Preferred experience leading analyst and/or data science teams
