Advance Auto Parts is building a world class Search Engine Optimization team and is looking for a Sr. Manager, SEO to join the Downtown Digital Group. As Sr. Manager, SEO, you’ll play a big role in the strategy, planning, and execution of campaigns, and the overall growth our big brands in the digital space. You’ll assess and understand each market’s needs related to Search, and communicate those priorities to various internal and external stakeholders. You’ll work with a variety of people across the company and help to directly influence user-facing elements across the website.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Play a key role on a growing team of SEO strategists, analysts and leaders, where “full stack” SEO is a shared value.
  • Be fully committed to mastering the SEO specifics of the automotive aftermarket space.  There’s a huge amount to learn and know about the deep, value-added relationship between us and our customers, and the ideal candidate will look forward to diving into all of it.
  • Analyze internal and external data through a variety of tools and platforms, while playing a big role in decisions and outcomes, as they pertain to SEO.
  • Identify growth opportunities in core areas such as site infrastructure, keyword selection, or on-page factors optimization.
  • Review specification documents and experiments to test new strategies and opportunities for growth.
  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, Data Science, Business and other stakeholders.
  • Build and analyze experiment results and push forward next steps, at tempo.
  • Monitor daily performance metrics to understand organic search performance across multiple global markets.
  • Keep pace and maintain deep awareness of emerging trends, strategies, best practices, tools and other developments in the volatile SEO space.
  • Lead, by example and otherwise, seek consensus and enable your team to be greater than the sum of its parts.
  • Be in the vanguard of a true Agile culture here at AAP.


  • You are a passionate digital marketer with experience on an enterprise-scale e-commerce platform.
  • Previous experience in SEO, SEM, Display, or Traffic Acquisition marketing.
  • Expertise working with analytical tools (Google Webmaster Tools, Google Analytics).
  • Preferred Experience with technical SEO (redirects, site speed, canonicalization, etc.).
  • General understanding of client-side web coding, i.e. HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Experience working across both mobile and web platforms, building SEO capabilities from scratch, and running A/B experiments.


  • BA or BS degree and/or equivalent experience.  STEM degree, MBA are pluses.
  • 8+ years’ experience in the SEO space overall.
  • 5+ years’ in-house growth marketing experience with an industry leading website.
  • 4+ years of experience managing growth teams of 2+ team-members.
