Job Description

Join the Advance Auto Parts Digital Commerce team and start reimaging the future of automotive aftermarket retail as Senior Manager of Strategic Partnerships.  The Digital Commerce team is responsible for executing Advance Auto Parts’ Digital strategy by delivering a superior customer experience through differentiated capabilities which unify digital and physical interactions. 

The Senior Manager of Strategic Partnerships is responsible for relationship management and day-to-day operations to achieve enterprise partnership goals and objectives.  A successful candidate would have an entrepreneurial mindset to seek and create opportunities, demonstrate operational excellence by collaborating seamlessly across multiple internal and external Stakeholders to deliver results, and effectively manage multi-faceted strategic partnerships using strong communication, negotiation, and empathy skills.

The primary responsibility of this role is to manage an on-going strategic partnership between Advance Auto Parts and Walmart.  The partnership, founded in 2018, aims to leverage Walmart’s broad customer base and expertise in omnichannel retail, combined with Advance Auto Parts’ industry leading product assortment and expertise in aftermarket automotive, to deliver a differentiated customer experience unparalleled by other retailers.  The role includes defining strategies and tactics to deliver partnership objectives and managing execution across Marketing, Merchandising, Supply Chain and Technology to deliver results. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage strategic omnichannel relationships such as the existing partnership between Advance Auto Parts and Walmart.
  • Identify opportunities, both for new initiatives and for improving those that exist, on an ongoing basis.
  • Define initiatives, quantify projected investment and return, and communicate these to executive decision makers to secure investment.
  • Partner with key internal and external Stakeholders to define requirements and complete solution design and development.
  • Employ an entrepreneurial mindset, capable of managing end-to-end, complex, large-scale products, projects, and programs.
  • Lead operational execution cadence to achieve sales and profitability objectives across Marketing, Merchandising, Supply Chain and Technology.
  • Organize and lead meetings with key Stakeholders, vendors, and IT resources to define and deliver on business needs.  Maintain meeting minutes, follow-up tasks and ensure that open items are assigned and resolved.
  • Manage expectations and deliver to plan and commitments.
  • Lead prioritization discussions to balance demand with resources.
  • Manage scope and scope changes to through effective application of change control processes and tools.
  • Ensure requirements are in line with the business's vision and that the solution meets the needs documented.
  • Ensure contractual documentation is place utilizing appropriate procurement processes.
  • Build master knowledge of the aftermarket auto parts industry, along with understanding of strategies and tactics that result in market share gain.
  • Consistently demonstrate Advance Auto Parts cultural beliefs and leadership competencies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience managing strategic relationships.  Experience with Walmart, Walmart Marketplace, or other large B2C Marketplace would be a plus.
  • Experience partnering with senior business executives to translate strategy into execution plans and using disciplined, methodical approaches to deliver results.
  • Experience in the aftermarket automotive (or similar) field would be ideal.
  • Analytical skills and mindset.  Ability to synthesize and evaluate complex solutions to complex problems, in context of a dynamic business environment.
  • Work ethic.  There is an enormous amount of opportunity, and members of the leadership team must lead by example.  We need to function well under pressure, have a high level of respect and regard to others, all while maintaining ownership and accountability.
  • Proven experience in risk management, change management and people management.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to negotiate effectively and work across business and technology teams.  With this goes the enthusiasm for mastering the language of the automotive space, which is culture and enthusiast driven. 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant experience in strategic relationship management, product and/or program management, or eCommerce and/or Digital Marketplaces.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position directly or indirectly supervises a matrix team.
