Job Description

Oversee and manage the procurement of international logistics services and import/export compliance for the company. The manager also provides guidance on trade compliance regulations and policies/procedures, oversees compliance matters, Develops, supports and implements an effective import/export compliance program. 

  • Act as subject matter expert and advisor regarding compliant importation of goods, staying abreast of new import/export regulations and programs that may impact the business.
  • Manage relationships with business partners including Customs Brokers, freight forwarders, drayage carriers and other parties involved in the import/export and International process.
  • Oversee the day to day management of the company’s import/export activities.
  • Negotiate contracts with ocean carriers, freight forwarders and other international agents.
  • HTS classification and maintenance of company data base.
  • Payment of duties to CBP through the Periodic Monthly Statement Program.
  • Maintain Automated Commercial Environment account.
  • Develop, maintain, implement cross-functional trade compliance programs to ensure import/export compliance in related areas and update, as needed, to reflect new corporate or regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the integrity and effectiveness of the trade compliance .
  • Stay abreast of market conditions (ocean freight, domestic drayage/trucking, international airfreight) and best practices to develop and execute strategies to flow product in the most economical manner.
  • Ensure proper visibility and training with respect to logistics and trade compliance with internal teams.
  • Review opportunities for cost reductions and recommend to management team.
  • Develop and manage process for transactional review/audit of all import/export records.
  • Assist with the management of special programs such as FTA, duty drawback program and other cost saving initiatives.
  • Prepare reporting for Finance Department.
  • Maintain landed cost for all imported product.

Skills needed

  • Effective negotiating, communication (written and oral), and interpersonal skills are critical for this position.
  • Licensed Customs Broker preferred.
  • Experience in import/export operations, international business, or other related field.
  • Prior logistics experience in global freight forwarding is a plus.
