Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

Join our Merchandising Systems Team as a Sr. IT Product Manager (Merchandise Fulfillment) .  This team is responsible for technology strategy and development of Advance’s product information management, merchandising, category management and space management systems.  Our product base is enormous, supporting millions of unique parts in thousands of locations across North America enabling both in-store and eCommerce business models.  Transformation is the focus as we are consolidating systems, disrupting business models and embracing software-as-a-service (SaaS).   We are looking for a self-driven individual who can partner with business product owners and IT architects to deliver solutions. The primary focus will be on Assortment Planning and Optimization of inventory.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Understand and map the current system landscape, including applications by functional area and the application interdependencies. Define the limitations with current landscape and prioritize the replacement roadmap to ensure business continuity and maximum business value.
  • Lead the IT project effort of transformation tier 1 projects.
  • Work closely with partners and offshore locations team.
  • Solicits, develops, documents, and manages requirements.  Provide detailed design and business processes to support the requirements throughout the project life cycle up to and through change control.
  • Create business process flow charts for customer and technical review.
  • Participate in design reviews and recommend improvements.
  • Work with QA team in preparing test cases, plans and procedures.
  • Assist in risk assessment and mitigation activities.
  • Provide support in all phases of SDLC and ensure delivery of high-quality products.
  • Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Attend team meetings to communicate project status and discuss new ideas and any issues.
  • Other roles as needed by the business to ensure timely release, i.e. Project or Release Management

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and/or 8+ years of retail inventory demand planning and fulfillment related experience.

Skills & Knowledge: Expert Knowledge of system development methodology, project management, analytical/problem solving skills and relevant development and technology skills.

  • Serves as a technical authority within the organization and with customers.
  • Develops advanced/leading-edge technologies and/or concepts.
  • Creatively and strategically supports key business objectives.
  • Develops innovative solutions, systems, and products to support company objectives.
  • Knowledge of and ability to put into practice commonly used SDLC methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, etc.).
  • Must have business systems process knowledge in Assortment Management and Inventory Optimization.
  • Experience integrating new Supply Chain and Merchandising solutions to legacy systems.
  • Experience with Blue Yonder’s PMM, D&F, and CatMan a plus.
  • Working knowledge of AS400 environment and Replenishment Systems a plus.  As well as their use of common integration points with Accounting, Warehouse Management Systems, and POS systems.
  • Tools: Confluence, Jira, Lucid Charts

Language and Communication Skills: Must possess excellent facilitation and communication skills, and able to adapt to the level and nature of their audience
