Advance Auto Parts isn’t just your local auto parts store.

 We are the leading competitor in the auto parts industry. We are always looking for ways to better our strategies and broaden our horizons; which is why we are excited to take on a whole new team of interns. For this 10 week paid internship we are looking for interns to specialize in the following areas: Communications, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Merchandising, Retail Operations, Strategy, and Supply Chain. The week of welcome kicks off by pairing you with a mentor who will guide your experience as you work on a project tackling some of our top business initiatives.

This isn’t a job shadow opportunity, this internship is the chance to get involved, contribute and truly experience our workplace. This will be a fun, teamwork atmosphere with the opportunity to build strong peer to peer relationships. The internship will end with the opportunity to present solutions to relevant business problems to some of our top executive staff members. The Environmental Sustainability Intern provides support of on-going, company-wide efforts to develop and promote the sustainability platform and goals.  This position has the opportunity to lead an effort in the collection and analyzation of sustainability data associated with the products sold within the Advance Auto Parts stores.  Additional opportunity may include new or current programs which can vary depending on the interests of the intern and needs of the company.


  • Spend time inside an Advance Auto Parts store or Distribution Center to collect basic product details.
  • Using the collected data, research the products to document any sustainable attributes. 
  • Develop a scorecard and template on how the company can associate an internal sustainability score to products.
  • Receive guidance from internal leadership on potential projects that would benefit either current programs (i.e. recycling or carbon reduction initiatives), or develop a framework to address new opportunities seen within other retailers but not yet realized within Advance Auto Parts.
  • Participate in internal meetings to learn how the stores/distribution centers function and how they partner with corporate leadership to implement new ideas.

  • This is generally a non-travel position.  However, the candidate must have the ability for regular access to either an Advance Auto Parts store or distribution center.


  • Candidate should be enrolled in a 4-year university focused on a Sustainability Major or a Business Major with a Sustainability Minor.


  • Maintain a valid state drivers’ license.
