SUMMARY:

The Financial Systems Accountant will function as a liaison between Accounting and IT for the financial modules of Oracle ERP. Duties and responsibilities cover the day to day functioning of the system and payroll interfaces, as well as ongoing system testing, and trouble-shooting issues .

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for ensuring that sub-ledger activity correctly posts into the general ledger daily and during close ensuring accurate financial cut off.

Responsible for approving access to ERP and coordinating and validating quarterly access reviews. Final review of any access role changes to ensure adequate segregation of duties is maintained.

Responsible for performing system integrity verifications by monitoring scheduled ERP jobs and investigating processes that do not successfully complete

Provide analysis for support issues and work with subject matter experts, IT, and end users to provide functional and technical solutions.

Responsible for the successful transfer and posting of journal entries from the Payroll system into Oracle general ledger per payroll cycles. Prepare period close payroll accruals and payroll expense analysis. Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts related to payroll.

With the assistance of the IT department, coordinate the development of quality assurance test plans. Responsible for assisting in the documentation of procedures and data/process flow analysis.

Maintain the confidentiality and security of corporate information, as well as the security of corporate assets and restricted areas. Promptly inform the appropriate management personnel of any confidentiality or security violations of any kind including knowledge of existing or potential problems that could be even remotely construed as serious.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University

3+ years of experience in using, implementing and/or supporting business applications and accounting systems highly desired.  Solid understanding of financial concepts and accounting processes

Experience with Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP or other large ERP, Crystal Reports, Microsoft Excel and Access desired

Sarbanes-Oxley familiarity desirable.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, and financial reports.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from team members, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to effectively present information to top management.
