The Accountant will be responsible for multiple tasks and priorities and proactively identify potential issues and risks in a dynamic face-paced environment. The candidate will work closely with the Sr. Manager, Accounting and Senior Accountants to complete the day to day operations of the Accounting Team, including the monthly, quarterly and annual close processes to help meet both the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and internal management deadlines. The Accountant will be responsible for reconciling all transactions and analyzing disputes as identified. Ensures that the Company’s transactions are reported in an accurate and timely manner within the financial records. Works with business partners to resolve any issues that may impact our financial results. The Accountant will also be involved in transformative related projects, accounting for new processes relating to technical accounting pronouncements and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Complete period close processing based on established schedule and prepare period close reports for all assigned accounts. Ensure all accounts are in balance at the end of each period and communicate outstanding issues to management.
  • Prepare journal entries and assigned account reconciliations on a period basis according to established schedule. Follow up with appropriate individuals for any needed corrections and prepare journal entries accordingly.
  • Prepare and maintain schedules and supporting documentation needed for management, internal and external reporting, internal and external auditors, and SOX requirements.
  • Obtain comprehensive understanding of daily activities of the department and provide assistance when needed to ensure daily and period goals/deadlines are met.
  • Work to resolve differences and adjustments to accounting numbers and ensure accurate and efficient resolution of any issues for all assigned accounts.
  • Recommend internal control procedures to protect the assets of the Company.
  • Help to resolve accounting issues and/or assist the external reporting group in resolving issues pertaining to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Assist in the development of process improvement and standardization projects by identifying potential risk areas and providing recommended improvements.
  • Consistently exercise independent, objective judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties and special projects as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

  • Strong Excel skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent required
  • 2-4 years of experience in accounting
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • Prior experience with business process enhancement, and knowledge of MS Office Suite, PeopleSoft, Oracle, JD Edwards, International Business Systems (IBS) or Iptor, Hyperion, and AS/400 are a plus.
