The Position__________________________________________________________________

The Director of Product Information Management leads the team responsible for the acquisition, creation, maintenance, and resulting user experience of product-specific content, product-specific digital assets, product-specific cataloging, and cross-banner product cross-referencing. The Director works with the team to ensure the appropriate business acumen and knowledge of this area is shared with various stakeholders.  The Director is knowledgeable of AAP’s strategies and drives and develops the product data management strategy to ensure alignment.  For clarity, this position is not responsible for fitment-specific content, fitment-specific digital assets, and fitment-specific cataloging, which are the responsibility of the Director of Catalog and Interchange.

This position builds strong cross-functional and collaborative relationships with the Merchandising, Cataloging, Inventory, Supply Chain, Marketing, Professional e-commerce, and Store Process and System leadership teams and other business partners across all banners of the enterprise. The position must fully understand these strategies and needs to assure alignment, direction and clarity for the Product Content team.  High level of initiative, and communication skills are needed in order to simultaneously manage multiple processes and communicate effectively to the business teams.

The Director also provides coaching, mentoring, training and guidance to team members as necessary. The role is the process owner for item master data.  The role requires a comprehensive understanding of how customers and team members utilize content data to make purchase decisions.

Job Scope__________________________________________________________

Directs and oversee Product Content team to ensure delivery of business results.  Communicate team strategy, capabilities, processes, and value statement to executive audiences

Defines data management priorities and ensures that cross-functional teams are involved to define both departmental and enterprise data strategies. 

Develops relationships with key stakeholders across various functions and levels to ensure better understanding of the business impact and drive strategic change. Must understand the interrelationships among different parts of the organization and develops, encourages and leverages synergies with other work groups   

Works with Catalog, Merchandising, and Marketing leadership teams to develop processes that enable successful and cost effective content management within AAP.

Develops "Best in Class" data management process for all product related content. Determine the most effective "Best Practices" data strategies for each type of process and data flow and the development of the infrastructure to support the agreed upon strategies. 

Drives continuous improvement while supporting transformation strategies that create robust capabilities within the Product Data Management team to grow with the business

Communicates effectively verbally and in writing:  Makes formal and informal presentations to small and large groups. Provides brief, easy to understand findings and recommendations.    Manages the communication of the product data management strategy and plan across appropriate business audiences

Develops talent system to support team structure, including resource allocation, to manage day-to-day operations of Product data management support teams.   Supports business and IT initiatives through allocation of subject matter experts.         

Meets overall budget expectations and ensures costs charged to the department are appropriate, complete, categorized properly and tracked.  Oversee annual budget, forecasts and results compared to budgets. 

Requirements________________________________________________________________

Bachelor’s degree in Management, Marketing, Finance, Communications, Statistics, Data Analytics, or related field; and

8-10 years business experience or related project management experience preferred; and

5-8 years retail experience and knowledge, with 3-5 years supervisory experience; or

Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Automotive Aftermarket experience – especially experience with product content – strongly preferred.
