SUMMARY

The Financial Analyst provides decision support by analyzing and interpreting financial aspects of real estate transactions using standard financial models, capital analysis and forecasting, as well as other ad hoc financial analysis to support the overall strategic and operating plans of Advance Auto Parts.

Success in this role will require strong analytical skills, effective communication skills, innovative thinking, and a passion for delivering results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize financial models to evaluate key real estate decisions, including new store development, relocations of existing stores, lease versus purchase, etc. 
  • Evaluate capital investment decisions by completing and reviewing financial models related to the capital spend.  Make recommendations to management based on insights gained from the modeling.
  • Assist in periodic capital expenditure forecasting by soliciting input from business partners, summarizing projected capex spend, and comparing to planned and approved spending by department and project category.
  • Respond to requests from business partners by providing data, reports, and/or financially supported recommendations.
  • Utilize PBCS and other tools to collect financial data, synthesize the information, and provide reports and summaries that will drive business performance.
  • Establish, foster, and maintain working relationships with peers and management within the Finance function, as well as key business partners in all other lines of the business.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint and Word and possess the desire and ability to learn automated data analysis tools and techniques. Experience with PBCS strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collect data, perform proforma P&L and other financial analysis, and draw valid conclusions and recommendations based on the analysis.
  • Working knowledge of real estate transactions and key financial returns (ROIC, IRR, etc) preferred.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics/Finance/Accounting/Business is required; and
  • 2-4 years of financial and business analysis experience; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
