2020 Inventory Summer Intern

Schedule – 40 hours a week, Monday – Friday // May 25 – July 31, 2020

For this 10 week paid internship we are looking for interns to specialize in the following areas: Communications, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Merchandising, Retail Operations, Strategy, and Supply Chain. The week of welcome kicks off by pairing you with a mentor who will guide your experience as you work on a project tackling some of our top business initiatives.

Summary
The Inventory Intern will partner with inventory planners and the merchant teams to develop and execute inventory strategies that drive incremental sales and profit for Advance Auto Parts. He/she will be responsible for ensuring the attainment of in stock goals while helping maintain inventory efficiency. The Inventory Intern must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize in accordance of a rapidly changing environment.

General Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with inventory planners to gain the foundational knowledge of inventory management
  • Develop, analyze and monitor project strategy (topic to be decided), report results to business stakeholders at various levels
  • Review upcoming promotional forecasts and seasonal activity based on sales, inventory, and in stock expectations
  • Analyze and review non-productive inventory; create and monitor action plans to minimize inventory liability
  • Assist in the communication with store teams and respond to individual store issues as needed Process Improvement Drive change in company best methods and be a resource for inventory system process enhancements.

Qualifications

  • 2020 Rising Junior or Senior
  • Preferred Majors: Business, Economics, Math, or Statistics
  • Strong attention to detail, planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, systems aptitude, and experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work with a high level of energy and initiative
  • Ability to interface with all levels of management
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals or technical procedures
  • Ability to apply root cause analysis
