The Position

The Manager of IT Transformation Programs will lead the project/program execution of all major IT Transformation initiatives for Advance Auto Parts.  Serving in a chief-of-staff capacity, this IT Transformation leader will partner with all groups across all IT and business as the company transforms to a product-centric operating model, a cloud-centric technology discipline, a platform-centric architecture, and an agile-centric development model.  The role will lead projects across all groups within the IT Transformation organization including Architecture, E-Commerce, Platform & API, CloudOps/DevOps and Innovation. 

In addition, the candidate will be single owner and coordinator for the Application Heat Map which defines the overall health status of our critical and key applications.  The candidate will partner closely with the architecture team and Business Relationship Managers (BRMs) to ensure ownership of applications and the inclusion of health-improving initiatives within each major BRM project, thereby improving the overall health of our architecture and platform.  The Program leader will also lead vendor management activities of both software/services providers as well as large consulting partners.  

The Person

  • Oversee the day-to-day evolution of the AAP application heat map including identifying and proposing solutions of critical systems with issues that are not being otherwise addressed
  • Act as the single coordinating focal point for all disciplines in the IT Transformation group including E-Commerce, Architecture, Innovation, Platform, and Cloud
  • Work across the company to lead technology transformation projects that leverage existing company assets in innovative ways including in the areas of Connected Car, mobile applications, assisted garage services, store-of-the-future, and more
  • Facilitate IT Transformation strategy and planning workshops across IT and business leaders; examples include enablement along API initiatives, DevOps disciplines, agile execution, etc.
  • Work with IT leaders to establish clear business-led KPIs that drive clear prioritization across projects and initiatives
  • Chair and facilitate all IT Transformation leadership staff meetings
  • Serve as a focal point for vendor management across technology- and people-providing 3rd party vendors owned by the IT Transformation group


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in IT or business discipline
  • 7 years of progressive technology leadership experience, including product-centric delivery
  • Minimum of 2 years leadership (manager) experience in managing IC’s directly and indirectly (matrixed)
  • Strong project and program management experience, including at least 5 years of direct, practical project leadership experience
  • 1 or more years of experience in managing agile projects; CSM or PMP certifications preferred
  • 5 or more years of experience in the retail or tech industry with direct customer exposure
  • Product Management experience a plus
  • Automotive knowledge/experience a plus
