Career Description

Job Description

Join the AAP Digital Products Team and start reimagining the future of automotive retail. Disrupt the way consumers buy auto parts and join a fast-growing e-commerce team to take on the industry’s biggest challengers. We are charged with executing AAP's top-down commitment to Digital transformation.

Our customers are can-do people who like to build, just like us.  Our priorities are all about their satisfaction, trust and loyalty.  The Digital development team is responsible for building solutions that drive the customer experience and, ultimately, enhance our bottom line as an organization. This team plays an integral, high visibility role in working across the company’s Marketing, Digital, and IT organizations.

As a ScrumMaster at AAP, you will be deeply immersed in our technology platforms as they contribute to customer experience, dedicated to creating great products. Successful candidates will thrive in an agile environment, embrace DevOps culture and practices, and help mentor other team members as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

•       The primary mission for this role will be to know our customers. Know, and care about, their likes and dislikes, what will improve their experiences, and earn and sustain their loyalty.

•       Add value to your team and collaborate on design solutions while building relationships with the organization.

•       Ensure that daily, weekly and monthly agile rituals take place, with efficiency and discipline.

•       Be diligent about identifying blockages and developer divergence from allocated tasks; work with product owners and other team members toward resolution.

•       Partner vigorously with product owners and the development team in their quest to do everything possible to ensure customer satisfaction.

•       Support your product owners, so they understand what they need to know about changes within the group.

•       This job will redirect incoming interference from stakeholders who may seek to deal directly with developers to address valid concerns.

•       Be a clear, consistent source of trustworthy information; facilitate discussion, transparency, good decision-making and conflict resolution.

•       Guide the team, and the organization at large, on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values.

•        Guide the team on how to actually self-organize, not just talk about it.

•       Work hard to build trust within the team; mentor on self-organization, foster an open environment to help resolve issues and hold accountability.

•       Apply Scrum at levels that fit the circumstances and group dynamic.

•       Facilitate the work load and lead by example, seek consensus and help the team to be greater than the sum of its parts.

•       Be in the vanguard of a truly agile, true DevOps culture here at AAP.

•       First or second level ScrumMaster certification (CSM, PSM I, II).

•       High energy and solid work ethic, with motivational and leadership qualities.

•       Experience in the ScrumMaster role for at least two years in a tech shop environment.

•       A solid baseline of tech literacy is expected; hands-on experience at coding/software development will be preferred.

•       Solid knowledge and understanding of Scrum terminology: servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment and increased transparency.

•       Demonstrated ability to apply common sense to "intentional gaps" in the framework.

•       Some understanding of DevOps  and cloud concepts including CI/CD, auto-scaling, automated and manual testing methodologies, pairing, etc.

•       Experience with project management software and diagramming tools.

•       Working knowledge of non-Scrum Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc.

•       Some experience as a team lead will be preferred.

•       Excellent communications skills – written, verbal and visual.

•       Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience.

•       At least 2 years’ experience in and around web tech.

None officially, to start, but your leadership will be welcomed and recognized.
