SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing multiple priorities and proactively identifying potential issues and risks in a dynamic face-paced environment.  The candidate will work closely with the Manager of Technical Accounting to manage the day to day operations of the Technical Accounting Team and assist with the update of accounting policies, technical accounting research, implementation of new accounting pronouncements and guidance, and business and control enhancement activities as needed. The role requires experience, knowledge, and proven skills in accounting, and the ability to act as a resource and assist others in the broader accounting group and other departments. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Manager of Technical Accounting with maintenance and documentation of accounting policies, bulletins, white papers, and memorandums. Includes identification and documentation of policy updates and recommendations.
  • Assist with technical research to provide guidance and analysis to key stakeholders requesting accounting information. Includes assisting with research of codification guidance, documentation of positions on accounting issues, and integration of new guidance and pronouncements.
  • Assist with the preparation and presentation of selected trainings offered by the Technical Accounting Team
  • Participate in projects across multiple departments and to ensure timely resolution of issues, adherence to timelines, and quality of work products.
  • Assist in the development of process improvement and standardization projects by suggesting potential risk areas and providing recommended improvements.
  • On-going routine responsibilities to ensure successful internal and external reporting deliverables, and other month-end, quarter-end and year-end deliverables. These activities include but are not limited to recently adopted or issued accounting pronouncements maintenance, accounting for stock compensation, EPS, goodwill, acquisitions and divestitures, intangible assets and derivatives and hedging activities, long-term investments and VIEs as needed.
  • Coordinate various business process and control enhancement projects that drive efficiency, standardization, and consistency
  • Consistently exercise independent, objective judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent required
  • CPA certification a plus
  • 3+ years in public accounting or related industry experience
  • Prior experience with business process enhancement and technical accounting research a plus
  • Knowledge of Hyperion Essbasse, Hyperion Financial Management, AS/400 and PeopleSoft skills a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and analytical skills required
  • Highly detailed oriented and organized
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
  • Flexible hours may be required around reporting deadlines
