This role will be the key liaison between inventory and supply chain DC Operations for communication and planning for inbound, outbound, and reclamation throughput.  As the ”One Voice” to DCs for new line introduction and cross-DC communication regarding product changes and new requirements, this role will publish weekly planning for the DC operations community, leading  planning for AAP’s large network of distribution centers. He/She will work with the Sr Mgr and team to develop the current demand forecast submission based on market activity and sales trends based on guidance provided by our Category management and Inventory management teams, and seasonal/historic trends.  He/she also identifies gaps between current plans and financial commitments, drives potential gap closure initiatives, and highlights risks and opportunities while collaborating cross-functionally to drive operational and customer excellence. The role also is a primary partner with the Inventory team and other business partners on the product portfolio by synchronizing product launches, product assortment, and special promotions.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Incorporate strategic sourcing activities into operational planning and modelling, using statistical and data analysis and R and SQL

  • Coordinate new product introduction and product optimization including product rationalization/line review processes as they relate to life cycle strategy impacting supply chain operations

  • Collaborate closely with DC GMs to understand physical processes and impacts of proposed change initiatives

  • Prepare and publish weekly planning outlook for AAP’s distribution centers, including inbound and outbound product flow

  • Develop and monitor S&OP performance, drive root cause investigation of key business issues and implement effective improvements and preventative measures

  • Drive continuous improvement through projects like improving economic order quantities and lead time analysis to drive linear flow into the DCs

  • Understand and mitigate any potential capacity constraints through cross-functional collaboration

  • Provide root cause analysis and communicate and translate the results into business insights and actions


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding of supply chain, inventory, distribution and transportation processes

  • Effective communicator and ability to manage through influence

  • Strong Microsoft Tools Suite skills, AS400 and PeopleSoft skills

  • Strong statistics skills and analytical ability

  • Ability to prepare and present recommendations and proposals to senior management

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Travel 10%

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, or Business plus 3-5 years experience in a supply chain management or planning role

  • 2-4 years of retail experience preferred

  • LSS Greenbelt, PMP, and APICs Certifications preferred but not required
