SUMMARY

The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst works in a data warehouse environment which includes data design, database architecture, metadata and repository creation. The Analyst is responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of an enterprise data warehouse system and corresponding data marts. The Analyst evaluates existing subject areas stored in the data warehouse for incorporation into an enterprise model and reviews data loaded into the data warehouse for accuracy. The Analyst troubleshoots and tunes existing data warehouse applications and creates new or enhanced components of the data warehouse. The Analyst conducts research into new data warehouse applications and determines viability for adoption; and assists in establishing development standards. The Analyst operates under general direction and provides direction and guidance to less experienced team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform advanced development on projects and any metadata environment according to requirements and in alignment with architectural development plans
  • Maintain and enhance physical, semantic and presentation repository models; maintain and enhance security models
  • Perform advanced BI/ETL administration tasks; provide assistance in root cause analysis, work on remediation with appropriate vendors
  • Participate in senior-level interaction regarding Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing projects across functional business areas
  • Participate in on-call rotation, providing second/third-level and severe/critical service level support
  • Develop and provide system and production and support level migration documentation according to established standards and practices within the IT Infrastructure
  • Develop and implement a roadmap for maintenance and future requirements; provide a direction use of appropriate reporting/analyst tools and techniques
  • Collaborate with other senior developers; train and mentor less experienced developers in the setup of platform hardware and software needs and the introduction of new technology, directions/products into the Enterprise

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, SQL/SQL Explorer, Unix skills
  • Expert knowledge of OBIEE 10g ¿ 11g or Advanced DataStage 8.5 or other reporting or ETL tools
  • Strong knowledge of Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence practices and either Inmon or Kimball Methodologies
  • Ability to prepare high-level approaches from which programs will be written; ability to understand and write SQL, ETL concepts and reporting concepts
  • Deep understanding of the Extraction Transformation process and Loading of the Data Warehouse and ability to use data extraction tools/methods for reporting and aggregation
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to effectively present information and respond to questions across all levels of the organization and cultivate relationships with internal and external customers in order to achieve business objectives
  • Ability to lead and work independently on most phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities, and provide instruction and guidance in other phases; proven leadership and coaching/development skills

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; and 5-7 years experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
