SUMMARY
Applies lease accounting principles to analyze financial information, record and reconcile transactions, assist in the preparation of financial reports. Will assist with the implementation of a lease management system that will be the system of record for equipment leases. Collaborate with employees in other departments to streamline lease management/accounting processing while maintaining a focus on completeness and accuracy of equipment lease data.  – Must be self-motivated and enjoy working in a fast paced, highly dynamic environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY SKILLS may include, but are not limited to the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Lease Accounting

  • Serve as project lead for the equipment leasing project which will require strong project management skills and a solid understanding of the new lease accounting standard.
  • Collaborate with management in the implementation of lease management system for leased equipment across the enterprise, attend and lead meetings, work with external consultants to build requirements and test any enhancements. Evaluate existing and new leases to ensure accurate recording in accordance with GAAP and established Company policy.
  • Provide analysis for Accounting management and business unit teams to determine financial liabilities and prepare appropriate accruals.
  • Perform analytical reviews and interpretation of financial data and provides understandable explanations to non-financial business partners.
  • Support special projects and ad hoc reporting requests related to equipment leases and/or capital assets which require a thorough understanding of the applicable accounting guidance.
  • Prepare and maintain schedules and supporting documentation needed for management, internal and external reporting, internal and external auditors, and SOX requirements.
  • Assist in quarterly reviews/year-end audits with internal and external auditors.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office and other applicable accounting and financial software (experience with PeopleSoft or another ERP preferred).
  • Ability to think creatively and bring new ideas to improve and increase efficiencies and processes within the organization.
  • Extraordinary interpersonal skills to work in conjunction with other departments, vendors and internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, handling complex projects and prioritizing and managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines and time constraints.
  • Solid organizational skills, follow-up, and high attention to details, as well as the ability to make clear and concise decisions based on research. 
  • Must be able to handle sensitive matters and exercise excellent judgment.
  • Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to top management, external department heads, customers, clients and other employees. 

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Equipment lease experience is preferred.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    No direct supervisory responsibilities, however a Senior Accounting Analyst will be required to lead a system implementation that will direct cross-functional teams to complete tasks as needed on a timely basis.  Responsibilities may include working with various departments and employees to streamline processes across several business units, provide system training, planning, assigning/directing work and resolving problems.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
    CPA certification preferred.
