SUMMARY:

Oversees the execution of the organization's policies and procedures related to the general ledger. Ensures an accurate and timely close and that all transactions are appropriately recorded in accordance with GAAP and accounting standards consistent across the organization. This position will have constant interaction with other departments and resources throughout the Company.

 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include, but are not limited to the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Supervise general ledger close for all business units, including determining the proper treatment of financial accrued liabilities and other general accounting transactions.
  • Oversee the payroll process, including working with Human Resources to obtain information from Workday and recording of payroll related liabilities.
  • Work closely with relevant personnel to understand and/or gather information about complex transactions, such as insurance reserves, business combinations and other non-recurring transactions.
  • Manage the performance of analytical reviews, completion of key performance indicator analyses and interpretation of financial data, including providing understandable explanations to non-financial business partners.
  • Liaison with FP&A partners to understand periodic forecasts and help drive the business towards meeting its annual operating plan.
  • Research and resolve the proper accounting treatment for transactions relevant to assigned areas of responsibility in accordance with GAAP and company policy.
  • Review journal entries and account reconciliations on a period basis according to established schedule.
  • Ensure practices are in place to prepare and maintain schedules and supporting documentation needed for management, internal and external reporting, internal and external auditors, and SOX requirements.
  • Perform quarterly reviews/year-end audits with internal, external and regulatory auditors.
  • Oversee and assist with the implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Develop standards for coordinating work with Off-shore resources.

  • Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, and ERP skills.

  • Must be a team player who also works well independently.
  • Must be able to analyze data, draw conclusions, interpret results, and make recommendations with respect to incentive calculations.
  • Must be able to read, analyze, interpret and comprehend financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both an oral and written manner to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
  • Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to top management, external department heads, customers, clients and other employees.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and
  • Certified Public Accountant license strongly preferred; and
  • 9-11 years related experience; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serves as the manager of the department.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities may include training, planning, assigning/directing work and resolving problems.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS


Certified Public Accountant license strongly preferred.
