The Senior Manager Inventory Accounting manages and provides effective preparation, analysis and insight of inventory and COGS. As an integral member of the Accounting Operations team, this position tells the story of significant cost drivers affecting Inventory and COGS to senior management. This position requires excellent analytical skills, experience in cost accounting and inventory management and the ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include, but are not limited to the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Ensure the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of period end close activities for inventory, related inventory reserves and COGS, including journal entries, account reconciliations and roll-forwards in accordance with reporting deadlines.
  • Provide senior management effective understanding and analysis of inventory and COGS actual results, budget development and variance reporting.
  • Partner with the Operations team to understand supply chain and logistic cost drivers and inventory turn conversion.
  • Manage COGS functions, including inventory transactions, gross margin analytics and variances.
  • Develop, maintain and improve inventory records and cost data in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SOX internal control requirements.
  • Coordinate the performance of analytical reviews and interpretation of financial data and provide understandable explanations to non-financial business partners.
  • Review journal entries and account reconciliations on a period basis according to established schedule.
  • Ensure practices are in place to prepare and maintain schedules and supporting documentation needed for management, internal and external reporting, internal and external auditors, and SOX requirements.
  • Perform quarterly reviews/year-end audits with internal, external and regulatory auditors.
  • Develop standards for coordinating work with Off-shore resources

  • Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, and ERP skills.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both an oral and written manner to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
  • Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to top management, external department heads, customers, clients and other employees.


  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and
  • Certified Public Accountant license strongly preferred; and
  • 9-11 years related experience; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.


Serves as the manager of the department.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities may include training, planning, assigning/directing work and resolving problems.


Certified Public Accountant license strongly preferred.
