The primary purpose of this position is to support the Advance Auto Parts (AAP) Enterprise Data Governance activities, focusing primarily on the Professional / Commercial Customers & Store locations and providing influence and oversight of the other data domains such as Retail Customer, Product, and Vendor.

The Sr. Data Governance Analyst supports the development and implementation of the enterprise’s data governance strategy. Responsible for the implementation of Collibra Data Governance tool, including the development of the business glossary and data lineage, administering data governance policies, managing access and availability of data assets, as well as improving data asset quality and usability. 

The ideal candidate will be passionate about data and highly motivated, with a strong work experience in implementing Data Governance and working with business and IT stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Play an active role in the Data Governance Organization for the Professional Customer & Store locations domain, and be a strong advocate for tool usage, integration, and standards.
  • Organizational commitment to ensure ongoing effective communication between all facets of the business regarding the Professional Customer domain.
  • Establish the roadmap/timing for the implementation of various assets within Collibra and the creation of the data lineage.
  • Develop and manage the data lineage, business rules (data quality, cleansing, transformation rules, etc.), reference data, and mapping documents across the enterprise in the Metadata Management Tool.
  • Clear understanding of Customer master data concepts, such as – Merge Customers, Unmerge Customers, Match rules, Survivorship rules, Hierarchies, etc.,
  • Define and manage the workflows as part of the governance process for approvals, rejects & acknowledgements by the business stakeholders, along with the SLAs.
  • Ability to roll up your sleeves and dive into the data analysis using SQL, data quality tools, business intelligence tools, etc., to query the data on the various systems within AAP to determine how to integrate, standardize, and harmonize the data.
  • Ability to document, and implement the data quality policies, procedures, and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years’ experience using data governance/metadata management tool
  • At least 1-year experience in MDM (Master data management) with Reltio or similar product
  • At least 1-year experience using and setting up SharePoint for managing data governance artifacts
  • Strong knowledge in SQL (2+ years)
  • Experience using data profiling/wrangling tools (Example: IDQ, Trillium, Paxata, Trifacta, Tamlr, etc.)
  • Working knowledge using common file formats such as CSV, TEXT, JSON, XML, XSD, etc.
  • Strong problem solving and analytic skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge on Collibra workflow management is plus
  • Data quality and data risk management expertise, including understanding of regulations, compliance, standards, methods, processes, tools, and controls to manage enterprise-wide
  • Retail/Wholesale Automotive experience a plus
  • Salesforce.com experience a plus

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field; 7-10+ years data analyst with experience in data management; especially metadata management, master data management, data profiling or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of recent experience in data governance/metadata management (Collibra preferred), data quality issue resolution and management, & data governance, along with a data management background.
