SUMMARY

The Sr. Financial Analyst provides decision support by collecting, analyzing and interpreting large amounts of data, as well as forecasting business trends to support the overall strategic and operating plans of Advance Auto Parts and to drive profitable growth through rigorous analysis and insight.

Success in this role will require strong analytical skills, effective communication skills, innovative thinking, and a passion for delivering results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proactively analyze data to answer key questions from stakeholders or out of self-initiated curiosity with an eye for what drives business performance
  • Evaluate processes and implement automation while delivering actionable reporting that changes customer and internal behaviors in order to drive improvements
  • Collect and analyze large amounts of data to create meaningful analysis that highlight outlier performance and quantifies opportunities to drive business improvements
  • Establishes, fosters and maintains working relationships with peers and management within Finance, affiliates and all lines of business
  • Analyzes financial statements including P&L and balance sheet; summarizes variance explanations and makes recommendations to improve performance / optimize cost
  • Develops forecast models driven by input variables; Presents sensitivity scenarios to the business partners in order to drive engagement and sync financial outcomes to business decisions

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint and Word and possesses the desire and ability to learn mainframe applications and automated data analysis tools and techniques. Experience with Business Objects and SQL strongly preferred.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics/Finance/Business is required, (MBA preferred); and
  • 3-5 years of financial and business analysis experience; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
