SUMMARY
This position is will lead an integrated planning team responsible for the development and publication of weekly and quarterly planning for Advance Auto Parts Distribution Centers, optimizing and harmonizing all strategic sourcing and tactical planning activities, and synchronizing volume and value planning within the end to end supply chain function. This position will be a liaison and advocate between supply chain operations, inventory management, and merchandising for planning activities, and will provide a single point of contact for planning for all DC Operations, This manager will run and manage the weekly operational planning process and 13-week plan, identify and drive continuous improvements, and assess and evaluate technology solutions to drive service, cost and quality improvements.  The primary metric and accountability will be forecast accuracy, as measured at the DC and Supply Chain network levels.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and manage an annual and rolling quarterly integrated operating plan, with statistical and data analysis utilizing R and SQL

  • Prepare and publish weekly outlook for AAP’s distribution centers, including inbound and outbound product flow

  • Measure and report forecast accuracy and develop and implement plans to minimize variance

  • Coordinate new product introduction and product optimization including product rationalization processes as they relate to life cycle strategy impacting supply chain operations

  • Develop and monitor S&OP performance with KPIs including benchmarking with other companies and industries

  • Drive root cause investigation of key business issues and implement effective improvements and preventative measures

  • Drive continuous improvement through improving economic order quantities and linear flow

  • Understand and mitigate any potential capacity constraints at all levels throughout the supply chain

  • Serve as a change agent and business decision driver for continuous process improvement

  • Prepare and lead all weekly, monthly and quarterly integrated planning sessions that successfully brings cross-functional consensus and alignment to the annual operating plan

  • Act as an escalation point and key decision maker with a strong sense of urgency and drive issues to resolution

  • Perform return on investment (ROI) analysis to determine viability and priority of pending supply chain planning decisions

  • Provide root cause analysis and communicate and translate the results into business insights and actions

  • Collaborate closely with DC GMs to understand physical processes and impacts of proposed change initiatives

  • Evaluate and propose technology solutions for the planning process

  • Lead a team of 3-4 supply chain planners, and provide development and coaching opportunities for their growth

QUALIFICATIONS

  • In-depth knowledge of distribution and transportation processes

  • Effective communicator and ability to manage through influence

  • Strong Microsoft Tools Suite skills, AS400 and PeopleSoft skills

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Ability to prepare and present recommendations and proposals to senior management

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Experience working in retail environment preferred

  • Strong team builder in working cross functionally

  • Travel (10% to 15%)

     

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, or Business plus 5-8 years experience in a supply chain planning role

  • 2-4 years of retail experience preferred

  • People management experience 3-5 yrs

  • LSS Greenbelt, PMP, and APICs Certifications preferred but not required
