Major Responsibilities

The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for leading procurement sourcing activities in the areas of Marketing, eCommerce and Professional Programs in support of approximately $150MM in spend. Advance Auto Parts is looking for an individual who wants to be on the ground floor of breakthrough innovation and transformation.   As a Strategic Sourcing Manager, you will be responsible for developing the key strategic relationships with critical suppliers, supplier selection and contract negotiation and being an expert in the marketing and e-commerce space. This role is dependent on integrating and working directly with the key stakeholders.

Major Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a market-leading, bimodal, sourcing and supply base strategy for the Marketing and eCommerce disciplines via full market knowledge, supplier rationalization, and supplier relationship management.
  • Constantly monitor the supplier market and identify opportunities resulting from new product offerings and/or market shifts (e.g., entry or exit of suppliers, changes in pricing, or industry litigation)
  • Develop market intelligence on supply base, own key supplier relationships based on assigned categories
  • Develop economic projections on key products and services affecting the business
  • Perform cost benefit analysis on current and future products and services
  • Work closely with the stakeholder teams to set category long-term and mid-/ short-term objectives and pipeline of initiatives
  • Drive value initiatives in the form of cost reduction, efficiencies and innovation with suppliers within category
  • Act as subject matter expert for assigned categories
  • Prioritize and manage all strategic sourcing initiatives for managed categories; coordinate efforts with support functions
  • Lead the sourcing process including RFx, negotiations, and contracting with selected suppliers
  • Ensure quality of internal demand management for managed categories
  • Manage category performance by adhering to savings goals and developing financial models for assigned category spend.
  • Relationship management. Understand stakeholders’ challenges and build long term relationships with stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this position and to be successful, the ideal sourcing manager requires at minimum the following qualifications and experience:

  • Experience in category management or strategic sourcing and pricing and contract T&Cs negotiations; negotiation aptitude
  • 3-5 years of experience in related field preferred
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong in change management
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with disparate teams and be considered a thought leader by stakeholders who drives ROI through marketing partnerships.
  • Must be able to understand how to successfully support marketing and ecommerce goals and objectives and align procurement strategy with those goals and objectives.
  • Ability to navigate a matrixed organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong ability to manage risk
  • Strong supplier relationship development and industry experience
  • Professional qualification / certification from related professional body, (ISM – CPM / CPSM, APICS) preferred
  • MA/MA/MBA or equivalent preferred
