The Team Lead for Data Analytics will lead a team of tech savvy professionals with backgrounds across business intelligence, reporting, data science, advanced mathematics. The team is chartered at supporting the total company’s enterprise reporting and analytics capability.  The leader of this team will be responsible for both directly serving the executive leadership team as well as building out the enterprise reporting framework and analytics capability to enable and support the broader organization.

The successful candidate will be multi-disciplined with a logical/analytical mindset, a clear understanding of Analytical reporting and a background in leveraging technologies to achieve abnormally superior results.  This role's focus will be on developing a framework for data driven business insights as well as developing the tools and capabilities for robust monitoring and support, with the goal of developing data driven business insights. You will be part of an elite data management and analytics function to help the organization live its mission of Advancing a World in Motion. You will have the opportunity of working with Data Lake, Advanced Analytics, Machine Learning platforms and more.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Partnering with various business units to develop use cases to apply advance analytics to drive business insights and deliver business value
  • Partnering with the various business leadership to establish the reporting/metrics framework for how we will monitor the performance of the company
  • Develop Data Analytics methodology and procedures
  • Development/leverage of a robust digital platform for monitoring of organizational results and key supporting KPIs utilizing tools such as PowerBI, Snowflake and other delivery tools
  • Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining core data elements (master data, measure definitions, hierarchies, algorithms, etc.)
  • Participating in the Enterprise wide underlying platform rebuild aimed at modernization of our Analytical capabilities
  • Performing deep and complex analysis to discover underlying business drivers and how to leverage those insights to optimize and impact outcomes
  • Acts as content authority for the Agile team regarding 'what gets built', relentlessly interacts with business and functional partners and other stakeholders that represent the analytics/reports vision and business needs
  • Provides guidance to the team to ensure what is being developed satisfies the needs of the business. Ensures Agile Team's understanding of business objectives.
  • Engages required business representatives/SME's. Determines how the business needs will be satisfied via design, build and test by the Execution Team.
  • Ensures overall delivery of business value and business adoption of solutions, able to lead iteration and increment planning for the Agile team.
  • Makes decisions that integrate business goals/objectives aligned with project/program. Addresses situations that require a choice among several solutions and works in ambiguous situations.
  • Mentoring, coaching, and inspiring the Enterprise Analytics analysts on the team
  • Creation of Daily, Weekly, and Monthly informational presentations and/or flashes
  • Deliver analysis and findings to leadership and business teams…often through formal presentation
  • Partner with the leadership team and the broader business community to stay abreast of current business concerns, potential opportunities, and information needs
  • Maintain knowledge and stays current of developments in the fields of Retail industry, Analytics, business intelligence, data warehousing, data science, and emerging technologies
  • Contribute to the broader Enterprise tools roadmap in partnership with IT leadership

Technical Qualifications: Experience with multiple technologies and discernment of which to apply in different environments and use cases is necessary.

  • He/She has demonstrated success as Tech Lead, Sr BA or Product owner in an analytics program
  • Needs to have a technology background and business acumen
  • Has led cross functional teams in various capacities
  • Demonstrated experience in change management and communication plans
  • Demonstrated scope negotiation experience to define priorities/MVP and minor/major release
  • Ability to extract and integrate data leveraging technologies such as (SQL, Hive, Redshift, Mongo, etc.).
  • Ability to develop and automate reporting/analysis as well as operational process using technologies such as (Python, R, Spark, etc.) within Hyperscale environments (AWS, Hadoop, etc.)
  • Ability with visualization, discovery, & analytic apps such as (Power BI, Tableau, SAS,  etc.)
  • Expertise with Data modelling concepts, such as Data Vault, OLAP cubes, Star Schemas, etc.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, perform analysis, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Demonstrated experience with statistical analysis and other advanced mathematical/logical methods
  • Familiarity with AI type concepts, machine learning concepts, and advanced automation a plus
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of senior management, department heads, and the IT/Business teams
  • Attention to quality, reconciliation, and accuracy are critical as the audience is often executive level staff and the decisions being made are significant in scope/impact
  • Creativity and vision to recommend ways to evolve our infrastructure, process, and analytic capabilities
  • A genuine interest in helping direct and indirect staff learn, develop, and accomplish significant achievements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Either a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, Bus Analytics or related required (with a 2nd degree in Business or Mathematics a plus); or a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or Accounting (with a secondary degree in Comp Sci, MIS, Bus Analytics, etc. a plus) and strong track record of leveraging technology and programming capabilities; and

15+ years of data / business analysis experience; or

5+ years of leadership expertise with direct reports is highly desired

Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Direct supervision of contractor staff of Data Analysts and/or Data Engineers
