Transportation Analyst 2020 Summer Intern

Schedule – 40 hours a week, Monday – Friday // May 25 – July 31, 2020

Summary
This position is responsible for research, and analysis of our store support transportation network.  Will be responsible to maintain, and analyze performance measures, network design, and costing lane segments for the transportation department.

General Job Responsibilities

  • Analyzing DC and PDQ networks to identify, measure, and present optimal balance between DC capacity, service requirements and costs.
  • Conducts analytical work on projects and solution implementation to streamline existing operations. Performs financial analysis on current and proposed processes to drive return on investment (ROI) decisions.
  • Tracks transportation performance metrics to measure key performance areas.
  • Works closely with vendors, purchasing department, and distribution centers to review and resolve issues.
  • Assists in determining transportation strategies relating to network design. 
  • Retain history files of carrier payments.  This data is used to develop month-end accruals for accounting, carrier usage reports, DC expense data for freight accounts, etc.
  • Recommends changes to networks and routes, processes and procedures to facilitate Annual Operating Cost reductions and service improvements.
  • Collecting and analyzing data using various computer programs to assist operations in problem identification and resolution.
  • Prepare computerized reports and graphics for Regional Director's and headquarters management.
  • Develop queries and reports for reviewing and analyzing the flow and delivery of merchandise.
  • Prepare analytical results into meaningful written documentation and presentation material for leadership review.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects while working in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including; Word, Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint and Outlook required.
