Job Description

This position is responsible for compliance, reliability, and improvements across the Advance Auto Parts vendor base.  This includes direct communication with vendors, root cause investigation, and implementation of sustainable improvements to support accurate and complete order fulfillment.  The role includes monitoring appropriate quality measures across the vendor base to identify, correct, and resolve issues. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support AAP’s Vendor Reliability program, processes, and initiatives.  Identify best practices based on current trends in quality assurance practice and technologies, and develop and implement standards across AAP’s North America distribution centers
  • Define, develop and establish a robust CAPA process within Supply Chain Reliability
  • Collaborate closely with merchandising, inventory, store operations, distribution center operations, logistics, and vendors
  • Develop data-driven solutions across vendor base, logistics, and distribution centers to improve vendor compliance, reliability, and accountability
  • Understand end-to-end processes and policies for AAP distribution and order fulfillment, while serving as a knowledgeable resource within the company for Vendor Quality
  • Implement quality assurance measures to address and reduce risk at every touch point of the distribution supply chain. Drive toward perfect order fulfillment
  • Drive improved Supply Chain Reliability performance through vendor collaboration and solution implementation. 
  • Investigate top vendor issues and develop methodology to assess, address, and eliminate vendor fulfillment issues
  • Develop and deploy training materials to support vendor reliability and improve vendor engagement
  • Support vendor relationships and performance by leading complex medium to large cross-functional and cross-departmental process improvement initiatives

  • Experience in root cause analysis and CAPA within a large distributed supply chain environment
  • Experience in developing and implementing engineering solutions to complex operational issues and deploying across distribution networks
  • Effective communications in a large cross-functional, matrixed team environment
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and Microsoft skills
  • Project management abilities and skills to manage multiple project workstreams simultaneously
  • Ability to apply analytics and statistical analysis to operational decision making
  • Ability to prepare and present business proposals effectively to senior management
  • Knowledge of distribution and transportation processes
  • Frequent travel (20%)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 5+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience in Distribution Center operations
  • Experience in an industrial or quality engineering field
  • Experience working in retail distribution environment preferred
  • PMP and/or LSS Certification preferred
