The WMS Program Manager is responsible for the execution of simultaneous projects to transition the AAP strategic warehouse management system (WMS) across the Distribution Center (DC) network to a new strategic WMS application. The role includes all aspects of implementation & deployment of the projects.  The WMS Program Manager acts as the single point of contact for each project deliverable to the IT & Business executive leadership. The WMS Program Manager will coordinate a managed service provider (MSP) and will set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitors/ summarize progress of each project aligned with the master project plan. The WMS Program Manager will work with the MSP to ensure there is a detailed methodology & playbook for each WMS deployment and be responsible for the seamless cut-over from the legacy systems to the strategic solution.  The WMS Program Manager will collaborate with the IT development core team and the business project managers to ensure the total solution has been validated, risks are understood & mitigated and the deployment activities are aligned with the Supply Chain business leaders. The WMS Program Manager operates under very minimal supervision and leads and directs the work of project team(s).

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the WMS deployment team to successfully deploy AAP’s strategic IT solution across a DC network of approximately 45 large Warehouses & 30 smaller hubs

Align with the Supply Chain business on the deployment activities and ensure clear understanding of interdependencies, actions, owners and schedules.

Manage MSP teams who have been engaged to provide the resource capacity to effectively deploy the solution across the DC network - set an aggressive pace, balanced with risk

Identify appropriate resource needs; work with appropriate management / MSP to get resource commitments; make recommendations in strategic roadmap.

Manage the budget for the deployment activities. Ensure contractual documentation is place, utilizing appropriate procurement processes. Manage scope and cost; ensure financial forecast is created and maintained throughout the project.

 Define project scope and objectives, ensure adherence to quality standards and review project deliverables. Create and manage project schedule efficiently; track progress in completing project tasks.

Develop and implement recovery places for off-schedule and unanticipated occurrences to minimize impact to the project deliverables

Direct the analysis and solutions of problems; escalate issues to management and project stakeholders as necessary.

Conduct project meetings; prepare and present status reports on a regular basis to senior management and project stakeholders.

Lead internal process improvements and make recommendations on areas of improvement to Senior Leadership.

Ensure the correct strategic WMS solution is deployed to meet or exceed the company’s standard and is done so in a timely manner.

Strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills; ability to effectively present information across all levels of the organization; and cultivate relationships with internal and external customers to achieve business objectives.

Knowledge of project management tools, methods and best. Advanced skill in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio & MS Project.  Solid understanding of business mathematics and basic project accounting principles.

Proven experience handling multiple assignments and using strong prioritization skills; ability to work in high-expectation situations providing leadership and collaboration to deliver solutions.

The WMS Program Manager will be expected to work with minimal supervision and have advanced critical thinking and negotiation skills; ability to make recommendations.

Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Familiar with a variety of business related concepts, practices and procedures.

Willingness to travel 25% of the time.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Must have a proven track record of managing complex transition programs and provide real examples of leadership & ownership of the transitions.

Must be able to communicate across all levels of the organization, from the operators to executive management

Must be able to articulate the activities needed to transition from legacy applications to strategic IT solutions, while maintaining business continuity.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position directly supervises a portfolio of project teams across concurrent project deliverables.
