The Desktop Engineer administers enterprise client management systems to manage end user and mobile computing units and evaluates, recommends and builds configurable systems with various development tools based on solution requirements defined by the internal customers.  They are also responsible for prioritizing multiple development and support requests stemming from implementation and support activities and providing training and documentation of implementation and configuration methodologies.

 

Essential Duties: (the tasks listed below are not all inclusive, but are major areas of responsibility)

  • Facilitates set-up of IT structure for new facilities by planning layout and preparing equipment for delivery.
  • Develops new imaging standards.
  • Writes code for batch and executable files.
  • Deploys new software updates to end users.  Identifies ways to automate and improve efficiency of mass deployments.
  • Deploy new software updates to thousands of mobile devices.
  • Provides technical support for issues escalated from the help desk.
  • Develops tools and programs to improve support of customers.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with imaging tools.
  • Solid knowledge in TCP/IP and networking protocols.
  • Experience with batch and executable code writing.
  • Experience with enterprise client software management administration.
  • Experience with Microsoft administration.
  • Solid knowledge with PC hardware.
  • Knowledge of MDM desirable.
  • Knowledge of desktop management suite desirable.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with issues that are often novel and not readily defined, lack known precedent or appear contradictory.
